It seems like every Wrestlemania lately has that one big "dream" match that contains a lot of build, but is placed somewhere in the exact middle of the card. Wrestlemania XIX had HBK/Jericho, XX had Lesnar/Goldberg, and XXI had Angle/HBK. All matches were quite memorable (Lesnar/Goldberg for different reasons). Are there any thoughts on what the big match in the middle of the card will be this year? Even if Austin/Hogan happens, I doubt it'd be the fifth match or so. I'd envision something like Batista/Cena getting that spot. What do you all think?

You forgot Hogan/Rock.
Also, I'd say it WILL be Hogan/Austin. That match doesn't deserve to be the main event, but it deserves a spot toward the top of the card, if it happens.

I've always said the main attraction match at every WM should be last on the card and be main event. This hasn't been the case really since WM17 which I think is very bad booking.

I think the Austin/Hogan match would take up that slot. Although I'd really like it if they made an Orton/Hogan match for Wrestlemania.
John Cena will probably win the Royal Rumble and main event Wrestlemania.

whoa WTF? Jack has a hot chick in his sig? Yes I too was strangely confused by his appreciation of Stacy Keibler in the "What has happened to STacy" thread.

I always figured that it was designed that way so that those matches would be the "show-stealers" i.e. Savage vs. Steamboat

I remembered Rock/Hogan, but I didn't include it because right off the bat, it was considered one of the top three matches, and it was third to last on the card.

I don't care what names you have comprising your matches at WrestleMania... main event at WrestleMania should ALWAYS be reserved for a World title match. I don't care if the Boogeyman wins the title and Super Porky wins the Royal Rumble (actually, I dare WWE to make that happen)... a World title match deserves the main slot at WrestleMania. It's the only way to keep the title looking prestigious at the big show, and it will convey that no name is bigger than the title. I like it that way.

I agree with that also, but i think WM 8 was the exception. I dont know if Savage/Flair would be a good last match, considering it was Hogan's "last" match.

That said, even if the head titles deserve the top two slots, it IS kind of embarassing that the best of match of the show is the sometimes not in them. Do they HAVE to put the world titles on line in EVERY PPV? Couldn't they just build up fueds with a couple of PPV's without title shots? It could push up the best non-title matches into the main event, while wrestlers with World titles get a break from having to at least try to put out a title-worth main event and the show ends on a better note.

Funny thing is, WCW did that alot during the period in which Hogan was champ. One time in particular was a Spring Stampede PPV when the main event was DDP vs Randy Savage. But again, only when Hogan was champ.
