I don't know why this popped into my head the other night but somehow I started wondering if Hogan had turned heel years earlier in the WWF and somehow had Heenan manage him. Imagine the heat they would have gotten. It would've been Andre heel heat times 10. But then I couldn't even think of how it possibly could have even gone down.
So I'll ask you guys to come up with some scenarios.

Only one I could think of right off, wm 5, hulk turns heel instead of savage, with hulk saying "yeah, I want liz and your belt brother!" and he and rick rude be a team with the whole buffed up ladies' men thing.

I've really no clue. Two of my absolutely favourite people in wrestling ever, if they got together I'd have probably have gone into convulsions or something.
The heat those two had were incredible, up until his book even hardend smarks thought Heenan really had beef with Hogan.

Craig DeGeorge: Will you sell the WWF World Title to The Million Dollar Man?
Hogan: On behalf of all of the Hulkamaniacs, I'm going to have to look him in the eye and tell him....HHHHEEELLLLL YYYYYEEEESSSS!
*Hogan walks away*

Track down Jed Shaffer's (sorry if I misspelled your name) Rewriting the book, which has Hogan selling out to Ted DiBiase. It's pretty good.
How about after the 1992 Royal Rumble, Hogan is scheduled to wrestle with Sid against Flair and Taker on SNME. Hogan doesn't show and Sid loses in a handicap match. Hogan shows up the next week and is interviewed by Mean Gene about why he missed the event. Sid interrupts and demands that Hogan better have a good explanation. Hogan says, 'Hey Sid, I'm sorry, brother. I had a family emergency I had to take care of and there were no flights back to the show. I tried to call, man!"
Sid doesn't look convinced and threatens that Hogan better not pull a stunt like that again. Hogan promises that he won't and says that he talked to Jack Tunney and has gotten a rematch against Flair and Taker.
During the match, Hogan hits Sid in the back with a chair while the ref is distracted by Paul Bearer or Mr. Perfect. Sid is pinned. After the match Hogan leg drops Sid twice and then throws him out of the ring and gets a microphone.
Hogan says that he was double teamed at the Rumble by Sid and Flair and that the fans cheered when he was eliminated. He then says, that after he eliminated Sid something happened that has never ever happened before, "You booed me. How dare all of you fans boo me! I'm the man who built this company. All of you are fans because of me! For years I have set an example about doing the right thing and have been a hero to millions. And for what? For you all to turn your back on me? A lot of guys have promised that they will kill Hulkamania over the years. None of them could do it. Well tonight, right here and now, I declare now that Hulkamania is dead. It's over. The Hulkster that you all used to worship no longer exists. And who killed Hulkamania? Each and every one of you! I hold you all responsible. And before any asks why I did what I did? I didn't turn my backs on the Hulkamaniacs. You turned your backs on me! Who will be your hero now? Sid Justice? Look where he's at right now. He's nothing. I will leave you fans with one question. Whatcha gonna do? What are you gonna do now that you've no longer have your hero? What are you gonna do without the Hulkster setting the right example for all the youngsters out there. You brought this upon yourself!"
The next week Hogan could say that he has finally wised up about all of the fans. He could say that there is one man who has been telling the truth for years and that it is his pleasure to introduce this man as his new manager- Bobby Heenan. Heenan could say that Hogan has finally seen the light and that Hulkamania is dead, but rising from the ashes is a new era of Hogan.
This all leads to the WrestleMania match, where either Sid can go over as a face or Hogan can go over. If Hogan goes over, then the Savage/Flair match would have to go on last.
Granted this never would have happened. Ever.

I think the key would've been for there to be some up-and-coming star that's taking Hogan's spotlight from him, and he gets jealous over it. The only person that ever came close would've been the Ultimate Warrior. So if I was in charge, I guess it'd go something like this... Post-WrestleMania, Hogan all but vanishes from television for a few weeks. Meanwhile, Ultimate Warrior runs wild over the competition as the new unbeatable, super-babyface champion. Eventually, let's say 3 or 4 weeks later (since they moved a lot slower back then), Mean Gene announces he was able to set up an interview with the Hulkster, who's been all but impossible to find in the days following his loss to Warrior at WM 6. The interview could be conducted at Hulk's "house." (Envision it how you will.) It's just Gene and Hogan alone, two old friends who've shared the camera for many, many years. Gene asks Hulk where he's been and what he's been up to. Hogan says he's just been here, at home, thinking--where does he go from here. Gene insists Hogan can bounce back. One loss isn't the end of the world. "You know what, losing didn't really hurt at all," Hogan says. "I dunno, maybe it's selfish, but for so many years, all those people believed in me. They were behind me. I knew that, no matter how tough it got in that ring, those people were still there behind me. But at WrestleMania 6...they weren't. They were behind him..." Gene is shocked, of course, that the Hulkster could be so down. Sure, there were Warrior fans in the audience, but there were plenty of Hulkamaniacs, too, he insists. "I don't think it was enough," Hogan says. "It's the fans that keep me going, that push me to keep fighting when I think I can't anymore. And that night, they weren't pushing me...they were pushing the Ultimate Warrior..." He pauses a minute then says, "I heard Jesse Ventura say that Hulkamania would live forever despite that loss. Of all the people to say that...Jesse. But, you know what Gene? I think he might've been wrong..." From then, no more interviews. Just replays and speculation. Vince, of course, would cry. Others would wonder. Just what did the Hulkster mean by that?? Is Hulkamania dead??? Meanwhile, Bobby Heenan would start suggesting that he plans to conduct an interview of his own with the Hulkster. Naturally, everyone would dismiss him. No way is the Hulkster gonna talk to the Weasel. Bobby, of course, will get flustered and angry, and be the butt of several jokes, but he'll continue insisting... At the same time, Warrior could start a main event feud with the Macho King Randy Savage. Savage and Sherry, his manager at the time, would bring in Bobby as a "consultant." Bobby would say he knows how to battle so-called "Immortals"...and always adding again that he's still got that upcoming interview with the Hulkster. The feud would continue with Sherry and Macho getting more and more worried, fearing that Macho may just not be able to beat Warrior. Bobby would continue to console them. "Not to worry. I always have an ace up my sleeve." The big matchup comes at Summer Slam: Warrior VS Savage for the World Title. The match goes back and forth until Bobby starts getting involved, choking out Warrior whenever the ref's not looking. Eventually, the ref gets inadvertantly knocked out. The heels storm the ring and attack the Warrior, until... HULKSTER makes his way through the stands toward the ring!! Macho and Sherry bolt, but Bobby "doesn't notice in time." He's still stomping away at Warrior when Hogan enters the ring. He turns and appears shocked. Behind him, Warrior stands, ready for some retribution. Hogan grabs Bobby by the shirt for a moment, then tosses him aside and attacks the Warrior, pummeling back to the mat while Bobby looks on. He then helps Bobby up, shakes his hand, and delivers the Atomic Leg Drop. He opens the ropes for Savage, who reluctantly reenters the ring and covers Warrior. Hogan revives the ref...1...2...3... From there, Hogan becomes the dastardly heel he was in WCW, with Bobby at his side. The fans weren't behind him anymore, he says, but Bobby is. "The fans moved on to the 'next best thing,'" he says. "So, I say, forget 'em!!" It could all build to a WM rematch. Perhaps even find a way for Hogan to get the belt back to make it bigger. I dunno...best I could do. Hope someone likes it.

Logically it wouldn't have been any time between 1984-1991 - Hulk was just too hot for any heel turn to be realistic.
I'd have done this......after Ric Flair went back to WCW in Jan/Feb of 1993 run an onscreen angle where Heenan 'apologises' to Mr Perfect. Have him do bits to camera pleading for the chance to manage him again. Eventually Perfect agrees and Heenan is back managing Mr Perfect again....
Hogan in the meanwhile can do 1993 as he did...title win at Mania and loss to Yoko at KOTR...
The onboard the USS Intrepid for the Yokosuna body-slam challenge.......
a lot of ham and eggers turn up and fail. Suddenly we see Perfect being interviewed - he's up next.
"Hey Mr Perfect, where's Bobby Heenan?" - Perfect doesn't know but let him gloss over that and cut a tweener promo about doing this (attempting to slam Yoko) for the USA"
So Perfect gets in the ring, the crowd who have just heard that promo give him a mixed-cheer, as he's still a heel but he just said something good.
He tries....fails....he staggers backwards in agony, holding his back......suddenly emerges Heenan.....he's here to help Mr Perfect.
Heenan grabs the microphone......
"You know Perfect, you're just like all these other humanoids out here. You're a symbol of everything that's wrong with this country. You're a loser. Well I'm tired of hanging around with losers, so without further ado let me introduce to you my latest aquisition. He is a REAL American. Ladies and gentleman, give it up for your hero - Hulk Hogan!"
Hogan comes down...OMG Hogan with Heenan!!!!
and then have Hulk beat down on Perfect for a bit, celebrate with Yoko and Fuji and wave the Japanese flag to really hammer home the heel-turn on the 4th of July!!! Bah-gawd...etc.
Then do a programme in the summer, still keep Luger vs Yoko as the main event but with Mr Perfect vs Hogan with Heenan as manager as the feature undercard match.
Also every Hogan match from then on would start with Heenan getting in the ring demanding the crowd rise for Hogan
"Listen you might be a bunch of fat, out of work failures, but this man is your hero. I want you all to put just a little bit more pressure on those already fragile ankles, put your ice creams down and expand the most energy you've used since you conceived those 24 children of yours you've left at home in the trailer park, and stand up for the true icon of the WWF...."

You can't do it anytime before 93, or it would have been just like when WCW tried to turn Sting, and Goldberg.

Some great work in this thread. How about after the 1992 Royal Rumble, Hogan is scheduled to wrestle with Sid against Flair and Taker on SNME. That was my immediate thought too. Hogan got quite a few boos in that feud with Sid, you can even hear it on the match at Wrestlemania 8. However, I think the logical time would have been in mid-1993 when there was a palpable sense people had had enough of Hogan. Instead of Yokozuna beating Bret at WM IX, Bret wins but then Heenan comes out to challenges Bret to defend his title again against his newest client. Everyone thinks it might be someone like Mr. Perfect or Lex Luger .... out comes Hogan. Crowd goes nuts. Bret accepts the challenge, Hogan not only wins the belt from Bret does so with a big assist from Heenan, and they beat on him after the match too. Hogan then poses in the ring with Real American playing (as he would have done), but, the crowd should have turned on him. Macho Man on commentary has had enough and hits the ring. He's joined by a few other babyfaces of the time -- let's say Tatanka. Macho Man can't believe what his old friend is doing, Hogan cuts the Bash at the Beach promo. With feuds vs. Bret and Savage waiting for him.

a shocking/not likely scenario would of been attacking warrior or savage after they won the titles at wm 6 and 4 respectively, wwf interviews him on a movie set where he mentions his agent alot, just not who,he returns at summerslam, wins the thanks to his agent athe broadcast booth, bobby heenan.
the more realistic approach is jack tunney reverses the wm9 decision. bret vs yoko vs hulk is announced for sslam. bret wins pining yoko, hulk attacks him after a handshake. then on raw he tells everyone "how dare this company attempt to go on without me for a year i am the wwf!!,new generation my ass brother,i got someone who is loyal, who will make sure these so caled new generation guys wont try to attack me and run me out like yall did flair,he's made me a part of his family, the HEENAN family, heres the brain!"

Heenan retired as a manager, who was out on the road with the wrestlers, in 1991. So while post-WM9 might work as a good time for him to go heel.
Personally, I don't think turning heel in 93 would've worked - (a) it was the end of his WWF career and riding off into the sunset as a heel would've sucked, and (b) it would've sabotaged his impending WCW career, and I think Hogan would've known better than that.
1992 would've been a great time. Heenan convinces Hogan to turn on the fans for booing him at the Rumble, he goes heel for a few months and challenges Sid at WM8, and then as the event gets closer..........we get inklings of a secret deal between Heenan and Sid.
Perhaps some old face friends of Hogan confront him about being heel now and start dropping hints that there's something wrong with the Heenan/Hogan alliance. Typhoon, Piper, Bossman, Hacksaw, Savage...
Finally it's revealed at or around WM8 that Sid & Heenan conspired against Hogan and made him turn heel so that he'd look bad to the "lil' Hulkamaniacs" and destroy his reputation - say Sid wanted to be the new Hogan, and (as we all know) Heenan just hates him that much.
Warrior, the final "old friend," comes back as scheduled to hammer home the point and help Hogan turn back face, and as Sid & Heenan (no Harvey Whippleman, thank god) scatter (though I'd argue Heenan would still be commentating and overseeing most of these events from the broadcast booth) they celebrate in the ring and end WM8 with a happy note as Hogan disappears for a year.

You know, I wanted to do a booking challenge with Hogan turning heel in WWF. The best possible times would be after his loss against The Ultimate Warrior at Wrestlemania VI or post-Royal Rumble 92 when Sid eliminated him, but the real challenge would make arch rival Bobby Heenan his manager. Now that I can't think of for the life of me. I think the key would've been for there to be some up-and-coming star that's taking Hogan's spotlight from him, and he gets jealous over it. The only person that ever came close would've been the Ultimate Warrior. So if I was in charge, I guess it'd go something like this...
