Consistantly, the Knockout match has the highest rating on TNA.
Does anyone else find that a little bizare? No disrespect to women wrestlers, but its highly unusual in this sport for the girls to draw more than the men.

Some of the female characters are simply more interesting than the male ones. Angelina Love is one of the most over heels in the entire company.

It still doesn't make a ton of sense, unless the Knockouts truly are just that much of a draw. If seeing good looking women was enough incentive to boost the ratings, wouldn't we be seeing similar trends in WWE?

I guess the question may be - is it something the Knockouts are doing so much right, or the male wrestlers doing so wrong?

You know what I think?
They're underbooked - for the most part. Not a lot of yakkity-sax, except for the Palin stuff.
They generally just wrestle. Can you blame people when the first quarter hour is usually someone talking?
That combined with .. well, T and A.

Because they're attractive and wrestle well? Seems like the only explanation.

I think there are a couple of factors that are in play here. For one thing, the Knockouts division is given much more time and credibility than the women in WWE are(I won't make any claims as to the quality of the wrestlng, as that's all subjective I'm talking merely about the way they are presented here). That sets them apart from WWE's women's division. In WWE womens matches and feuds are treated like second rate attractions. In TNA the Knockouts are given a significant amount of time to develop. That leads me to factor #2.
From the looks of things, the Knockouts prove that less is more when it comes to TNA's booking. Their feuds generally speaking aren't overbooked messes full of swerves, complications, etc. They usually follow very simple ideas such as one person has a title someone else wants it. In looking at it, it's actually the most well booked part of the show. Turns are given time to develop so that they feel natural. Swerves are kept to a minimum. And the matches are given a significant chunk of time every week. In essence, the women are treated like a real part of the show
Also, TNA actually has succeeded in making their women's division very diverse. While WWE hires out of bikini catalogues and then teaches them to wrestle, TNA has a good track record of hiring seasoned women wrestlers with experience in creating and developing their own unique personas. That's the kind of thing that viewers pick up on.

I appreciate the deep analysis (while I disagree with some of the points), and I think what you're getting at is that the Knockouts are presented as something very different than Female Wrestling has ever been presented, at least in most fan's memories. This really makes them stand out vs. the men being booked by tried-and-true methods. Being hot (mostly) definitely doesn't hurt, however.

That's pretty much the reason why I've lost interest in anything but women's wrestling as well as it being a bunch of new stars with some old faves instead of the same guys from 10 years ago with a few new stars here and there.

All other things being equal, the Knockouts draw higher because they are the only source of credible women's wrestling on TV. If you want to watch good men's matches on TV, you have lots of choices -- if you want to watch good women's matches, you watch the Knockouts.

If seeing good looking women was enough incentive to boost the ratings, wouldn't we be seeing similar trends in WWE? In the WWE, I think half the people say "Yay boobs", during a womens match, while the other half change it to Monday Night Football or whatever the hell else is on. Where as in TNA half stay for the boobs, the other half stay for the wrestling.

Maybe it's a combo of both factors - people such as ourselves watch for the quality wrestling, plenty of other people watch for the boob factor. The WWE audience doesn't get the quality wrestling, so they don't have that half of the audience.

If the Knocksouts do get their own show, it'll be interesting to see how its ratings compare to iMPACT!'s.

I'd have to say is that it shows a clear alternative to what WWE has with their Divas. So an average person might be more inclined to stay tuned to Knockout segments when they get decent matches AND lady bits jiggling about.

Daffney apparently has been one of if not the top ratings grabbers since her TNA debut-- almost always out-rating every member of the Main Event Mafia. Yet, they really do nothing with her.
Welcome to TNA.
