You also have to consider that Randy Savage was the guy who came out of that WM World Champion... a guy who has been in very questionable standings w/ McMahon for well over 15 years now.

And yet they actually are making DVDs of his WWE career now, so the relations are hopefully thawing.

I dunno but I know I was found of WM VIII. A really nice transtional show as the stars of the 90's (Hart,Michaels,Undertaker) go over some of the biggest names of the 80's (Piper,Santana,Snake) and two of the biggest stars of the 80's get big wins. Savage winnings his first title without Hogan to share the glory was nice, and I always enjoy seeing Bret Hart win so I loved that.

Am I the only one that liked Sherri Martel's version of "Sexy Boy?" Cause when I heard it in the opening bout, I was like, "Damn, that actually sounds better than his other version."

I love WM8 as it was the first WM I ever did see. It would have made much more sense had they stuck with the original plan of Hogan v Flair, but I am glad they didn't as we would not have got the excellent Savage v Flair match. I loved Taker v Jake even though the tombstone on the floor looked awful, Bret v Piper is one of my favourite matches of all time.
I liked the Natural Disasters v Money Inc, but it is a shame they did not have LOD v Money Inc here. Also would have like the Bulldog v the Berzerker to have stayed on the card instead of being dropped due to time constraints - the eight man tag should have been dropped instead.
Shame we never got the battle of the Rockers as planned either - as that would have been a great match.
I loved the return of the Warrior that night too - even if he had shrank quite a bit. Just a great wrestlemania and Heenan is on form throughout.
"You ever said hello to Tatanka? He says Heyhowareya heyhowareya..." I love Bobby.
Yes a great mania and one that does not get the plaudits its deserves as you say.

So why didn't Hogan vs. Flair happen again?
Also, LOD vs. Money Inc. was such a wasted opportunity. One non-title match as the opener of Summerslam 92?
Despite both of those things it's a very solid card up and down. I think it's just over shadowed by the great Royal Rumble and Summerslam that year.

Wrestlemania VIII is my personal favorite.
Fantastic WWF title match between Savage/Flair. Great opener Michaels/Santana, two great athletes delivering. Great IC title match.
I agree that LOD vs Money Inc would've been a much better tag title match, especially since Natural Disasters didn't go over at that event anyway.
The main event was BS indeed.... I liked Sid overpowering Hogan through most of the match, but the ending was a cheap DQ. Ultimate Warrior's return was exciting, even if (as someone else mentioned) he had shrunk to nearly half his size.

Sid no sold Hogan's legdrop, so they had to do something... Shango was supposed to interfere earlier, but he missed his cue, so Sid had to improvise and kick out of the legdrop. At least, that's what I read. I can't believe that. If that was true, they'd have fired Chuck Wright immediately for snorking up the ending of Wrestlemania 8.

WM 8 was awesome, remember was at a friend's birthday party and one of the kids (I think were like 9 or 10 at the time) was wearing a Warrior shirt and we all wondered what happened to him.
Needless to say we were jumping like idiots at the end of the show.
Its more of a personal favorite of mine more than a memorable historical show. It did have some great matches though, but the second half after the Savage/Flair match tanked the show outside of the tremendous ending.
I think this is also the best event for commentating as Heenan and Monsoon were on their game that night.

It seems like WM 8, while having a pretty decent card, never gets the recognition of being one of the monumental events in WWE history like WM 3 or WM 6 was ? What is your take on this ? WM8 is my favourite Wresrlemania ever. It features a great atmosphere, hilarious commentary (Heenan & Monsoon), the best match of all-time (Bret Hart vs Roddy Piper), a great match (Flair vs Savage), and several strong matches (HBK vs Santana, Jake Roberts vs Undertaker, Sid vs Hogan). Plus, it features a hilarious Sid promo (Sid to Mean Gene: "Shut up, you fat, bald-headed little oaf!") ;D

The ending was a bit of a mystery and still is.
I do believe the ending that Shango didn't get to the ring in time. They didn't fire him because it may not have been his fault. Maybe he didn't get the cue from backstage at the right time, or somebody else fudged up the timing in the ring.
Shango coming in late would be the only reasonable explanation why Sid kicked out of the legdrop and then Harvey interfered. It seemed like Harvey only did that to improvise and it wasn't planned as the finish.
The time between the legdrop ad the Warrior coming out was just a big mess.

Gorilla Monsoon announced that the DQ was the result of the interjection by Papa Shango, when in fact the bell rang long before Shango got to the ring. That blatantly illuminates how the match was originally supposed to end. Monsoon announced it as it was supposed to happen, since due to all the foul ups, it was hard to tell what actually happened. (In fact, the ref called for the bell when Harvey jumped onto the apron, even though he hadn't done anything yet).
