Also because politically it's good to have a black guy in the company with a main event spot.
Rick Steiner said in an RF shoot interview a few years ago that the only reason Booker T became World Champion in WCW was because he went to some racial rights in the workplace organization that I don't remember and had them threaten Turner with something if they didn't give Booker a prominent role. And I believe this was in the middle of that lawsuit guys like Sonny Ono and Bobby Walker had against WCW for not giving them a fair shake so WCW/Turner was obviously under hot water for that.

I feel Booker T is one of the best in the business but TNA right now are not using him well. He could be doing a lot better if you ask me. I have wanted to see him work a singles match with Sting since joining TNA. My hope is that match will happen at some stage.

He has slowed down a bit though but would you really think its good for a guy his age to go out and constantly throw Missile Dropkicks and Top Rope Somersaul Legdrops?

Him and Steiner are just so blahhhhhhhhhhhh in the ring. Maybe its because i've been seeing they're stuff for 15 yrs, but i have no interest in seeing them or the dudleys one iota. It takes a special talent to last over 10 yrs (HBK, Taker, Foley, Angle even, Flair, etc etc.). I used to LOVE Booker as much as i love HBK right now, but it's overrrrrrrrrr

Love Booker. Always have. Back in the early 00's, he was one of my favorite wrestlers, and his later heel run in WWE is among my favorite gimmicks ever. He's still a capable hand and consistently cuts entertaining promos... he may be a bit off of his rocker, but it adds to that "Macho Man and Warrior effect".
However, his in ring work has obviously slowed down... I've always thought he was a much more capable wrestler than what allot of his matches show. I'm not sure if it's him, the way he's booked, or something else completely.
Though capable of some good matches here and there, he's not in "feature" matches that would allow him to show off his talents that much. I think anyone that's booked properly can be portrayed as a better wrestler than they are, I also think that anyone that's booked poorly can be portrayed as worse than they actually are capable of.
I've never concentrated too much on his inring work, though, as his personality has always been the selling point. Even when he couldn't (and arguably, still can't) cut a promo with Harlem Heat and in his very early WWF stint (though I did here they had acting lessons for him before his debut), his charisma always carried him.

I've enjoyed his TNA run so far. He's still a consistently good performer. And if he had never come to TNA, we would never have had the greatness that was Black Snow.

I miss the days where he would do his Harlem Hangover and KO his opponents with his buttcheeks.

He's in a perfect spot, IMO. In a tag team with Scott Steiner. I wanna see them both but not at the expense of taking top singles spots from the young'uns. So I'm digging Steiner Heat.

He was doing alright to begin with, seemed motivated in there at least and was having fun with his character (and stuff like BLACK SNOOOOOW).
Last month or two though, he really looks like he can't be bothered out there. It's not that he's outright bad but there are just little signs like he's going through the motions at the moment.

It's the TNA effect. It just makes everyone suck. 1. 2.Unlike WWE's unfunny "crazy stuff" like Hornswoogle, D-X and so on TNA's two MEManiacs actually are funny, just like old Macho Man, Hulk Hogan and especially Warrior promos. Wrestling needs more total insanity.

I guess it's just me. I don't think there's nearly enough Black Snow/Bernie Mac/African King Booker T.
His persona has been so over the top and enjoyable lately that I've barely noticed his ringwork, which I guess is the whole point, isn't it?

I think they are using him perfectly right now. I have never enjoyed Booker until he became King Booker in the E. I still wasn't a fan of his in ring work but his personality was down right hilarious. In TNA much of his character has been just as over the top and that is where I enjoy Book best. I like his in ring work less than I used to so putting him in a tag team is perfect for my tastes allowing smaller doses of him in ring ether than watching complete matches of his. Also Steiner works best in tag teams especially at this point in his career. Steiner gets to hang put, get the tag, and just start suplexing dudes. Plus Steiner is 100% gold on the mic in TNA.
Basically if I had my way they would disband the MEM, take Booker and Nash out of the ring, and do everything they can to bring back Little Petey Williams. Man the Steiner/Williams tag team was so great to me. You could let Petey wrestle a good portion of the match then just let Steiner tag in and throw dudes. I was a huge fan.

I loved the way he was brought into TNA but other then that has not done a lot. TNA in my view dropped the ball with him. Booker working with Sting or Kurt Angle in a big singles feud would be great.

Because he was big in WWE and anyone who was big in WWE will get pushed in TNA? Sadly i think youre completely right. I hope Kennedys no compete clause never expires.. Agreed
