According to the Pro Wrestling Torch newsletter, Scott Steiner has been telling friends for a couple of months now that he doesn’t expect to stick around TNA much longer. Steiner is close friends with Jeff Jarrett, and people within the company assume he won’t stick around long if he’s under the impression there‘s no chance of Jeff coming back. Those close to the situation say that Steiner, now 47, has been financially prepared to retire for several years. Those close to him say that Steiner still has the desire to perform despite the everyday pain he endures from years of injuries.
In January of this year, a report was published with the following quote from a fellow wrestler: “If Scott has a decent, hard match where he takes five or ten bumps, he is feeling much more pain than the average beat up wrestler and he feels it for up to 24 hours after the match. His back is so bad, watching him go through a 12 step process to sit in a car seat is excruciating.” During the Monday Night Wars era, he developed one of the worst backstage reputations in the business. Since then, TNA sources say Steiner has been a pleasure to work with. Even during his short WWE run prior to joining TNA, sources say he kept to himself and didn’t cause any trouble like he did in WCW.

It makes sense. I mean the guy is near 50 and the Mafia storyline has to be winding down sooner than later. He's busted his ass in TNA for a few years now, so good on him for that.

Steiner has had a hell of an entertaining run in TNA imo. Its one of those things where Id be disappointed that hes gone, but at the same time, I'll sort of be glad because he just cant go like he could, even so far back as 2 years ago.

Considering the relative ages of both Booker and Nash, it would surprise me to see the two of them retire here soon enough as well.

The guy's had a great career, and hopefully he can move on from wrestling before his body is completely f***ed. That being said, after the MEM storyline wraps up, I just can't see a role for him in TNA so it's probably for the best if the mutually part ways soon

Good to hear he's secure financially.
I can see Steiner gone before the end of the year, but not before the MEM passes the torch to the World Elite and puts over Beer Money.

I actually thing his in-ring has been better the last year or so than the first few of his TNA run. Other than that though, I agree completely. Even when TNA was down (IMO) he was one of the bright spots but, knowing how bad his body is and how close he is to Jeff, I couldn't blame him though. That said, I have been think/wishing, they would push him as the crazy manager of someone so he could just cut promos. He could go nuts at ringside and force his wrestlers to have to calm him down and he could still wrestle the odd match here and there.

I've been incredibly surprised with Steiner in TNA. I remember how awful he was in WWE, and didn't think he'd have anything left to offer, but the man has been surprisingly entertaining and definitely busted his ass for TNA.

Man, I'd miss Scott Steiner. But he's getting up there in years, and I can understand.

Scott Steiner has been gold since he came to TNA and he will be missed when and if he decides to leave.

He better have a 2 hour retirement speech before he leaves. THIS.The day Samoa Joe loses a lot of weight and is no longer fat, I'll cry, because it'll remind me of Scott's beloved 2 words.. He's fat!

Needs his own Piper's Pit type show.
Or he can be the new ring announcer. He was pretty good at that.

He's a man of credibility based on the words of a lot of wrestlers who know him. If he says he's going to quit because of Jarrett being ousted, he likely means it.
