After watching the bizarre skit with the Juniors and the Boogeyman last night, I got to thinking that maybe this is the start of a nice little angle. Go back to the last UPN appearance of Muhammed Hassan. UPN catches most of the grief for airing the terrorist angle and decides to take it out on Smackdown. WWE screwed with them, so they decide to screw with WWE. They send a Network Guy over with the express intent of screwing up the show. After a month or so of playing along with Teddy Long (hey, that rhymed!), TNG begins unleashing ridiculous idea after ridiculous idea, all in an attempt to get Long to quit as revenge for the Hassan thing airing on his watch.
However, Teddy gets wise, playa. After realizing the plot, Teddy counters it by having TNG guys destroyed. TNG demands a main event slot for Boogeyman, so Long books him against Benoit in an I Quit match. TNG demands more exposure for the Juniors; Long puts them up against JBL. In a few weeks, Long has completely destroyed and humiliated the network's lame guys, and all is well.
Until a few weeks later when TNG comes out, yells that Round 1 is over and here's Round 2 and either brings out a monster from Raw (preferably Kane, recast as a psychotic heel for the 704th time, but this time, he actually destroys people, 1997 style) or some big name from outside the company (Lesnar in a perfect world).
Watchable or Crapable? You be the judge....

i actually like this idea.
it would give us a legit reason for TNG to be there and furthermore branch out a storline that couldnt have existed without him

I've always kinda figured Palmer was there to take Teddy's place at some point. I like your idea, although I'm not sure I'd use Kane. I'm just all Kaned out.
Maybe if they formed a stable to be the network dude's henchmen. Teddy could form his own group, and the two groups would try to win all the tile belts. First group to win all the titles get's control of SmackDown.
I'd watch it, anyway.

Yeah, I'm not too sold on Kane, either. And I suggested him. I couldn't think of a big-name guy from Raw that A) Hadn't been on Smackdown and B)Could immediately be perceived as a huge heel threat to Long and the established Smackdown guys. Personally, I'd take a heel Kane over Masters or Snitksy.

Why do I feel the Network Guy will be wrestling soon?

Why do I feel the Network Guy will be wrestling soon? Because he was in the WWE's Development program?

I don't think that's the case. If the network wanted Long gone, they would try to find a way of doing it without ruining their own show. My own theory is that Canon isn't from the network but from some watchdog group that wants WWE off the air. He says he's from the network to scare Long into using his intentionally-bad ideas in hopes of getting Smackdown cancelled by the real network guys.
