Ok, I really want to find the video for this, but I'll be damned if I can.
Back in 1998, WCW was building up a Sting vs. Hart feud, which ended up culminating with their match at Halloween Havoc that year.
Early in the feud, Hart, who was heel at the time and siding with Hogan, kept making it clear that he respected Sting, which obviously came off as disingenuous. Still, while Sting, who was black and red at this time, clearly didn't totally trust Hart, he still seemed to accept his help now and then, albeit suspiciously.
Then, one Nitro, Hart announced that he'd be teaming with Sting against some heel team, I can't remember who. When the match started, Bret had his usual intro, but then the "Crow" Sting theme started, and Sting came down from the rafters in black and white.
See, I really didn't like the Wolfpac back then, so I marked like crazy, thinking Sting was finally going back to his awesome former persona. They wrestled the match, yadda yadda, people were wondering what was happening.
By the next week, Sting was black and red again, and nobody ever seemed to mention it.
I figure the typical answer to this would be "typical WCW", but I've been confused about this for over 10 years now; I feel like the only person who remembers it sometimes. Can anybody come close to explaining this?

You're a saint for finding that.
Seriously, what the hell ended up being the point?
Also pretty funny to me how the whole crowd seemed happy to see Sting in black and white again.

I completely agree, but it's funny because the crowd was pumped to see him the way they wanted him to be...and by the next week he was back in red and black, and nobody mentioned anything about him reverting for one match.

Sting joining ANY part of the nWo was such an epic fail on WCW's part.

Sting joining ANY part of the nWo was such an epic fail on WCW's part. I'm entirely convinced that it was done for no other reason than to put black and red facepaint on him. I'm not kidding.

Agreed on Sting being in ANY nWo was dumb.
History SHOULD have gone down that Sting, DDP, Flair and Goldberg were the only main-event level men that NEVER joined the nWo during their time in WCW.

Why do WWE edit Micheal Buffer out of their programming?

Why do WWE edit Micheal Buffer out of their programming? 1. Much like Jesse Ventura, there's probably royalties involved. 2. Unlike Jesse Ventura, Michael Buffer was terrible.

If I remember right, it was supposed to be Lugar and Sting going for the tag titles, but Luger got attacked which caused Sting to snap (I remember after he saw Lugar backstage unconsious, he stalked the nWo Hollywood the rest of the night).
I didn't really mind Sting joining the Wolpac, even if he did look stupid with red facepaint, but I listened to a Kevin Nash shoot and he said that the original plan was to have Kevin Nash get an injury (a worked one for once) and have Sting be named interm leader of the Wolfpac, which would lead to Luger getting jealous. Then have Luger work a deal with the white and black to get Sting out of the picture "injuring" Sting and eventually become World Champ. Nash would come back and chase the title for a bit (basically like Luger did in 96 and 97), and then Crow Sting would return this time going after Luger instead of Hogan.
Nash said the plan was scrapped because WWF had passed them in the ratings, and Goldberg got really hot so they hotshoted Goldberg the title, but had no plans what to do with Goldberg after beating Hogan.

Yes. I actually liked how that happened, as Sting just walked out of the building, only to re-emerge that night as "Crow" sting

I think Sting should have never joined the NWO, but I also think that DDP should've joined the Wolfpac. He just seemed like a natural fit. Luger had no business in the Wolfpac either.

Rather, in the Wolfpac, he really slid down in importance, and didn't make much of an impact at all. It really was a waste of Sting as a commodity.

That could be why he didn't make much of an impact.
