They already had Nikolai Volkoff. Only 1 Russian allowed at a time in WWE. 2 if held at gunpoint.

I think Nikita was to loyal to the Crocketts and Watts, Vince Jr obviously didn't care for Ivan like his father did, why bring in his Kayfabe nephew

I know towards the late 80s his wife came down with, I believe, cancer and he went on hiatus. I think with the end of the Cold War, his gimmick became dated with his return in the 90s. I think if he would of jumped to the WWF in the 90s, he could of been repackaged. But I feel he was very much done in the 90s and not what he once was.

Nikita vs Hogan would have made a good program and would have played well with the 80's WWF mode because Nikita was a hulking scary heel.

But someone who worked for Vince told him that Vince would actually book him as against the Honky Tonk Man and have him lose, so it never happened.

At that time Vince was all about signing top talent, I think he would have made a better opponent than Bundy for wrestlemania 2, as you'd have Hogan face off with a guy who's muscles were as big as his were and he was just as mean and strong as hogan.

I'm pretty sure Nikita was an NWA man. He was getting put over like nobodies business and having matches against Flair, Dusty, Magnum, and Sting. If he jumped there's a good possibility he would come out no better than Hercules. A strong guy who didn't see the main event too often.

Open question: Do you think Nikita was the best "Russian"?
Better than Ivan Kolof? And better than Volkoff? And better than Corporal Kirschner?
