First one that came to mind: I'll second Misawa beating Tsuruta. And there's a story to it too. Rare you get those from Japan. It's said that Baba felt Tsuruta was slowing down and he started looking for his replacement as company ace. So he stood behind the curtains and listened as the crowd reacted to the entrances of a few of his young guys. Misawa, or rather Tiger Mask, stood out. The next week, he had Misawa drop the mask, which he did and was quite happy to do. The next month, Baba met Tsuruta before the show started and it went a little something like this. Baba: "Tsuruta, you lose to Misawa tonight." Tsuruta: "Misawa? By countout? Disqualification?" Baba: "No. Pinfall." It's said that time almost stopped when Baba said "Pinfall" and that Jumbo saw the writing on the wall. It was torch-passing time. He bowed graciously to his master and boss, and did the job. Misawa rose to the top of the world, as the match later on that night made him. Tsuruta would hang around for a couple of years, dropping down the card all the way to the opener, and in an unfair twist of fate, died young. This is the way you create a star. This is the way a star passes the torch. And you know they are having classics in the big ring in the sky as we speak. The Big Ring In The Sky has one hell of a roster. Unfortunately.

Maven eliminating the Undertaker at the Royal Rumble Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Maven also beat Undertaker for the Hardcore championship (with a big assist from The Rock)?? Definitely another upset! That he did. Al Snow also rushed to Maven's aid, I believe.

george south winning over anyone? Hopefully you mean besides against the Italian Stallion. I would read the wrestling results and it seemed like they fought each other at every show.

Kung Funaki over MVP.
Granted it was during MVP's losing streak but it was Funaki!

Most of the major ones have been mentioned from what I've seen.
I'll bring up one that I thought of, even though I wasn't watching at the time:
Marty Jannetty and The 1-2-3 Kid beating The Quebecers for the tag titles.
Especially since it was unexpected, due to Bret and Owen having the tag title shot at the Royal Rumble.

Like many other before I say Razor Ramon Vs. The Kid
Kid was nothing but a jobber who got squashed week after week. And he wasn't just any jobber, he was the kind of jobber who was really skinny compared to other jobbers and even more compared to the roided up superstars. He was the one who unlike others never got any offense in. And then he beat a guy who was pushed to face Bret Hart for the IC Title.
Horowitz vs Skip was another great upset since Skip was undefeated and Horowitz, like the Brookly Brawler, was THE EPITOME of a jobber. However, Skip was not as big and dominant as Razor Ramon and not quite over as a legitimate title contender. Plus, the original upset story (Kid Vs. Ramon) has happened before so it was not THAT shocking.
Bam Bam vs. LT was not an upset, but a crappy match with the obvious outcome of the handegg superstar beating the wrestler thus making wrestling look like a joke. Not surprising at all.
Many other mentions are also not so much a surprise, since the guys who won were either established superstars getting UBERpushed (Goldberg!!!), new superstars getting pushed (Shelton, 1-2-3 Kid vs. Dibiase, IRS) or won the match unclean (Santino-Kane, Amazing Red - Samoa Joe)
Nope. The clean victories of the jobbers The Kid and Barry Horowitz against superstars on a push clearly win this one.

Mulkey Bros. over Midnight Express I need proof of this! Me too, I suspect he had it confused with the Galaxians or whoever that masked team was that Jim Cornette was in the corner of.

Me too, I suspect he had it confused with the Galaxians or whoever that masked team was that Jim Cornette was in the corner of. They were Gladiators and just like real Gladiators wore solid blue tights with blue lucha masks
