I can see wwf doing hogan/luger. It was one of the "dream matches" that fans of both companies wanted to see in the late 80s/early 90s. Hogan/Doink (heel) would have been fun too.

If he would have stayed, we might have seen Shawn Michaels' ridiculous over-selling of Hogan's moves a decade sooner.

Hogan would feud with Giant Gonzales at Summerslam and bodyslam the 8 foot 400 lbs of Giant Gonzales live!

Hogan vs. Bret and Hogan vs Luger would've been the two main ones which I'd have loved to have seen. I'd hate to have sat (or slept) through a Hogan vs. Gonzalez match.
Moving to WCW and later on turning heel was the best for his career IMO. He'd never have turned heel in the WWF.

Hulk vs. the Million Dollar Corporation would have run and run I reckon.

He'd drop the title to Bret at Summerslam (though I would have loved for them to hold off on Mania to really get that buildup, then have it done in the Garden), slam and beat Yoko at KOTR before that, and, while Bret was having the technical classics with the title, Hogan would do the hero vs. monster act against guys like Gonzalez and Luger.

In the case of Hogan vs. Luger would it be face vs. face or would Luger still be the Narcissist? And I'm not sure if Hogan would've been happy to drop the belt to Bret.

I think Narcassist is one of the best things Luger did in his career. I would have loved to see that match. Luger gets a bad press, but I think he was one of the best power wrestlers going. Mainly because a Luger clotheslines looked crisp and looked like it hurt. I'd have changed the booking from WM 9. Bret goes over Yoko. Then he drops the belt to Luger at KotR and we've got Luger vs. Hogan for Summerslam with a winter Hogan vs. Yoko feud.

The Narcissist was such a great gimmick IMO. A guy who is in love with himself. I can still remember Heenan introducing Luger as The Narcissist way back in 1993. Shame Luger was made into a Hogan Real American rip-off. And yes Luger was very underrated and as you say always seems to get a bad press.

Cheers for posting those. Luger just oozed confidence.

I think they were going to build to Bret vs. Luger and have that feud go on with Hogan defending the belt until he dropped it back to Bret. Then Hogan changed his mind on doing that, so they had Yoko take it from him, and without any major faces at the time (except of course Bret, who they either wanted to take the belt back at Mania or just thought little guys couldn't be on top), they turned Luger face and forgot that whole feud.
