As much as I love this DVD, I hate to admit I miss Dusty Rhoades song Doesn't have same impact as when Liz dances to common man

They dubbed some crappy stock music over "Common Man". So I guess they reused the version of that match from their WM Anthology...?

Yeah! I don't get that! wasn't "Common man" a WWE customized song for Dusty?? It's kind of a pet peeve of mine they've censored non wwe ring entrance music on their old videos so they don't have to pay anyone royalty's It is understandable though. Steamboat's WM3 ring entrance music is dubbed over on the Savage DVD as well.
It's kind of weird to watch the Hogan matches from '84 when "Eye of The Tiger" was his ring entrance but "Real American" is now dubbed over in the rereleases.

The weirdest one is this, IMO.
They use the WrestleMania Anthology version of the Flair/Savage match from VIII.
Thusly, Flair's WWF theme at the time is dubbed over with Also Sprach Zarathusta + WOOOO start.
However, in the other two WWF Flair Matches Savage has, he has that theme from 92.

Well....at first, it made sense, since he was still the nWo heel, but after he'd turned face again? No. Shoulda had Real American from mid-2002 on. The weirdest one is this, IMO. I guess this means that they use previously transferred-to-DVD matches when available....sucky, especially when themes are changed, but fine since they don't seem to be changing many themes anymore...

The scary part about that WMVI match is all the women involved are dead.

Could it possibly have something to do with Jim Johnson and WWE parting ways? As the composer, he would be entitled to a royalty payment for use of the song, even if WWE owns it. That's my guess as to why they no longer use Johnsons songs(like Demolition for example)

I'm getting tired of buying DVD's for nostalgia's sake and getting Vince's version of history.
I won't be buying anymore DVD's (except the documentary-style ones) that WWE puts out.

I was hoping you'd post, just so I could mention that Vladimir makes an appearance in one of the 80's matches. Vladimir is awesome.

Not to mention when Hogan beat Nick Bockwinkel in the AWA, "Real American" apparently blasted in the background. At the 3:50 mark. I still can't believe people buy WWE produced DVD's. I know the footage is all some people care about, but still. Music is part of nostalgia too.

It's a music rights issue. A lot of TV shows on DVD do not retain the original music because they have to pay for the rights all over again. I can't stand it but I understand why they do it.
WWE DVDs are great although Vince's slant on history isn't a good one. That's why I would never buy an autobiography if he wrote one. It would be the truth according to him, meaning it would be about 60% inaccurate.

I'm confused about the law though. If it was for the original broadcast it should be in the dvd. Like how ESPN doesn't have to pay to show AWA, because it was their broadcast

That's my guess as to why they no longer use Johnsons songs(like Demolition for example) i doubt it since i heard that johnston leaving turned out to be a bs rumor, and not to mention i doubt theyd have an in house producer without having full rights to the music, and thirdly if that was the case theyd have to change virtually every wrestlers theme from the 80s til now

It sucks, but I would rather they do the best they can than not release it at all.
