Just say it is the late 80's / early 90's, the WWF has a chance to sign either Sting or Lex Luger, knowing the way McMahon thinks who would he rather sign, Luger or Sting?
Which one is more of McMahon type wrestler?
He could have used Luger as a rival for Hogan and the other type faces, Luger is like Savage he can work as either face or heel, so there is more flexability.
He could have used Sting and team up with the Warrior, if he wanted to do give Sting the Warrior's spot at the upcoming top face. As far as in ring preformance, there is more flexability with Sting, oppose to Luger who had more character flexability.

Sting by miles I think. If he could've joined at the same time as Flair (1991) then you'd have a mini WCW invasion.
I think Vince would've preferred Sting since he was already a star, could wrestle, an amazing athlete and was crazy over.

Sting would have been given the IC Belt right away if he had gone to work for Vince.

In the 80's, not knowing what we know now? Luger. I think he had the better physique at the time, and that was a big part of it.

Hasn't McMahon always liked Sting and wanted to sign him?

Sting I agree. I mean he was just so dam good and he could have been a huge market for WWE. I feel he still could be. Vince Mcmahon has tried to sign Sting for years but the deal has never got done.

Luger... its simple really Hogan was the show in the late 80s.. Luger could have been his evil equivalent and Im sure would have befriended and turned on Hogan within a year. I dont think they'd do the same thing with Sting.

I will never know why WWE ever signed Lex Luger. He never had a huge track record and his wrestling was basic. Sting was far better. He was the superstar you wanted.

Is everybody missing the fact that he did sign one of them in the early 90's?!?! Which was Luger. Didn't he also try to sign Sting a few times, though? Luger being easier to sign doesn't mean he was wanted more. Personally, I think it's a toss up. Sting had more to offer, but Luger had the physique that McMahon-land traditionally seems to love.

If sting had gone to the WWF anytime pre 1996 it would have been a train wreck. The WWF would have re-worked him into some lame gimmick, and he would have floundered around the mid card.

I would have preferred Sting, but I think given the choice at the time, he would have chose Luger. Luger is more physically imposing than Sting is, and that seems to be what Vince looks for most of the time.

Luger was put in the main event before Sting. Luger had the WWF 1980's "Look" and had the "it factor". Luger didn't have a set unique gimick, he was just Luger. Sting had a gimick Vince didn't create ergo he would have re-cast Sting into something else and we'd likely not ever talk about how great Crow Sting vs The NWO was because Vince would have made him into "The Magical Scorpion" or Steve"the Scorpion" Border

Would have LOVED to see Luger v. Hogan in 1993 WWF. Would have been great. Luger might have been the one guy at that point to really get the fans behind Hogan again. Their chemistry was ridiculously good in WCW so I guess we'll never know.

90s, guys! The obvious answer is Luger, just look at the shape he was in and consider the fact that Vince was/is into these bodybuilder types. In 2009, of course, things are looking a bit different and WWE wants no trouble which is probably the reason Rob Terry is in TNA and not in WWE.

For the 80s, Luger.
For the 90s, Sting.

I could have seen that if Vince had signed Sting as soon as he started to take off, he would have had the Warrior's spot - the two top guys (and the faces of the WWF around 1990ish) would have been Hogan and Sting, with Sting in a ::slightly:: smaller role.
Much as others have sited Demolition as the WWF's answer to the Road Warriors (which I think is actually the Powers of Pain), I always saw Warrior as the WWF version of Sting at the time.
