Having just watched the 12/22/06 SmackDown I must say that JBLs promo was a thing of beauty. He played a great heel role that makes the kids hate him and the smarks LOVE to hate him. Really top notch work IMO.

I really liked it. And now I'm wondering if this is the beginning for the rumored match for JBL at Mania.
Maybe this could be the end of Teddy Long too!
......UNDERTAKAH!

It was his Anti-Civilian promo.

He called out Teddy, saying he should apologize to the fans/Smackdown/MVP for the inferno match, called it garbage, ripped into the fans for applauding it. What I liked was how he mentioned that the fans are always wanting more out of the wrestlers who travel 300 days a year, etc.

Was it better than any Foley or Edge promo this year?

Was it better than any Foley or Edge promo this year? Flair and Foley had some of my favorites this year. When Flair cuts loose, you can see that he still has a lot left of what made him one of the best in the world.

You know, let's all calm down and keep everything in perspective.
While I skipped Smackdown tonight as usual, there is no way that Bradshaw had the best promo of 2006.
MCMAHONISM, anybody?

I know Miz sucks and blah, but JBL vs Miz would be awesome. I just love the fact that a heel commentator hates a heel (sort of)wrestler.

It was a good promo. But I saw it as pointless since he could have cut the same promo while doing commentary.

Why on earth not? Any guy can come out of left field and lay down a fan-friggin-tastic promo. JBL did. And, IMO, I think he did, and wanted to get opinions from people who actually saw it.

It was definitely awesome, but did anybody catch his exchange with Cole earlier:
JBL: What would you know about injuries? Cole: Ive had my injuries in the past... JBL: What? Were you a war correspondant or something?
But he did steal the show with his promo on Long. I mean, I thought his reaction to the Inferno match was awesome at the ppv but this one was better.
JBL is promo gawd!

Didn't Mick Foley deliver a very similiar promo in the Real ECW around ten years ago?
Foley, JBL, whoever...its hard to go wrong when you point the attention to the fans bloodlust. Heel heat mixed with some truth always gets 'em talking.

Wasn't Michael Cole actually a war correspondent?
Edit: Just checked his bio. From WWE.com:
"While working for CBS Radio in 1993, Cole covered the entire 51-day standoff at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas that led to tragedy when more than 80 residents of the compound perished in a fire that erupted during a shootout between them and federal agents. .....
.....In 1994, he traveled to Sarajevo for what was supposed to be a six-week assignment covering the siege of the city by Serbian forces. The assignment turned into a nine-month life-changing experience that saw him report daily from the war-torn city, ducking snipers and mortar shells at every turn. His documentary, “Voices of Bosnia,” was critically acclaimed and won several major awards.
Experienced in the face of tragedy, Cole was dispatched to Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995 to cover the horrific bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, where 168 people were lost their lives. "

Heel heat mixed with some truth always gets 'em talking. NOTHING gets heat quite like the cold truth. People just can't look themselves in the mirror and take accountability nowadays.
