So if we could alter space-time and travel back to 1993 with tapes of Michael Cole's commentary, we could end the Waco standoff in a less-deadly fashion. Just blast commentary from Smackdown: Just Bring It! in a loop for 6-8 hours, and Koresh would have been reduced to crying in a fetal position. And Janet Reno would have challenged Alundra Blayze for the title the following spring at WM X...or been captain of the heel 5-man team of Jarrett, Roadie, et al. that couldn't have its match b/c of time constraints.

So how did Cole go from a legitemate reporter to a schilling machine for the WWE? This I gotta know.

That was a pretty kickass promo, and probably made the show for me.

It was a good promo. But I saw it as pointless since he could have cut the same promo while doing commentary. But the crowd wouldn't hear him say it now, would they? lol. I wanna get a video of it already or at least, I wish it was Sunday already so I can watch SmackDown.

I don't know, he just came off as rambling than cutting a promo to me.

Wasn't Michael Cole actually a war correspondent? Edit: Just checked his bio. From WWE.com: "While working for CBS Radio in 1993, Cole covered the entire 51-day standoff at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas that led to tragedy when more than 80 residents of the compound perished in a fire that erupted during a shootout between them and federal agents. .....
.....In 1994, he traveled to Sarajevo for what was supposed to be a six-week assignment covering the siege of the city by Serbian forces. The assignment turned into a nine-month life-changing experience that saw him report daily from the war-torn city, ducking snipers and mortar shells at every turn. His documentary, “Voices of Bosnia,” was critically acclaimed and won several major awards.
Experienced in the face of tragedy, Cole was dispatched to Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995 to cover the horrific bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, where 168 people were lost their lives. "Thats why its funny

Yes those were good but JBL making a rare announing mistake in saying Taker and Booker are both in their primes kind of cancels the good promo out. I expect announcers like Cole, JR etc to say that kind of stuff, but from JBL I want the truth!!

Best Smackdown Promo of the Year? Definately
But on RAW you have Edge and Foley both delivering amazing promo's. Some of Foley's stuff had my jaw agape. I think Foley still out did him.
Then of course there was the Joey Styles' "I'm not good enough to announce BACKLASH!?" promo.

It was an amazing promo.
And I literally laughed out loud (something I rarely do) when he slapped Cole's headset off of him at the start of the show for stealing his Roddy Piper DVD.

I gotta admit that I thought the same thing after JBL's promo. I remember thinking that it was really good, and he put a lot of emotion into it.
I am glad that he is cutting in-ring promos. JBL is a great heel and if they can't use him as a wrestler because of injury, there's no reason to not have him on the mic.

I'll have to track this down. If it can supplant my pick for Promo of the Year (The Michael Hayes/Edge "Terry Gordy's Dead!" masterpiece), it'll be a fine promo indeed.

The promo almost made up for a lack of Londrick and Helms doing the job.
ALMOST.

I wasn't really paying any attention to it. All Bradshaw's sound about the same to me really.
Same s*** different week. It's been that way since 2004 with him I think.

Having just watched the 12/22/06 SmackDown I must say that JBLs promo was a thing of beauty. He played a great heel role that makes the kids hate him and the smarks LOVE to hate him. Really top notch work IMO. Not the promo of the year. He cuts good promos and carries Michael Cole like an annoying ass baby, but that's it. The fans disgust him. They've disgusted him since he "became" JBL and this isn't the first time he's done this. JBL v.s. Teddy Long at Wrestlemania. The rant has to lead to something.

And back on Smackdown, you have to factor in the promos of Mr. Kennedy.
