Awesome, but as a Bay Area native and die-hard SaberCats fan, this team is going to be anathema to me. Wasn't their owner being looked at by the feds for some screwy practice or another? I'm guessing New York gets a franchise sooner rather than later (surprised KISS didn't go there, originally being from NYC and all). The two teams that played at MSG were horrible (the Knights and the CityHawks) and the Nassau Coliseum sounds like it's coming down soon, so I'm guessing the next team is going to be in the Barclays Center.

The LA Kiss have offered Tim Tebow a three year deal.

ESPN, AFL agree to multi-year deal. They'll still show games on CBSSports Network. But now they'll show games on ESPN, and ESPN 3, which I have on Xbox 360. I'm excited for this. Hopefully they won't screw it up again.

Another team sprouted up in the Indoor Football League over the winter. In Bemidji, Minnesota, the Bemidji Axemen will begin their inaugural season in the IFL in 2014, somewhat replacing the Chicago Slaughter, who moved back to the CIFL.
In the AFL, after the LA Kiss arrived, another team was formed in Oregon, as the Portland Thunder. They were the Milwaukee Mustangs, who took off 2013, before relocating out to Portland.
Also, two teams in the AFL suspended operations, as the Chicago Rush and Utah Blaze won't be playing in 2014.

I really wish that somebody made a concrete league that ensures franchise stability. However, in order to do that, you have to make the concept of indoor football become more than a novelty to some.

I was a Rush Season Ticket holder for the two years prior to the league shutting down. When it came back, I had just had a baby and didn't have the time. I enjoyed it for the two years I had the tickets. Sorry to see them go.

One problem is that the most owners think they'll make some sort of profit right out of the gate. That rarely ever happens. They need owners who have successful businesses elsewhere and can afford to lose some money in the growing years of the team.

Plus they need to go to smaller markets who don't have major franchises in them. Sioux Falls for example. Largest city in South Dakota, but has no NFL, MLB, NBA, or NHL team that's within 6 hours driving distance. Hence why they have the Storm. The team's been around for almost 15 years and besides one iffy deal in 2009, they've had a pretty strong following in this town.

The Shock has the most loyal fanbase in the Arena Football League, in my opinion. But, yes, a lot of people who invest in these treat indoor football teams as get-rich-quick schemes. It's all about supply and demand. Also, disappointed that the Portland team is called "Thunder" and not "Forest Dragons". That was a killer nickname.

Which is why I don't mind KISS being owners of an arena football team. Many see it as a novelty act, but in reality, they are big fans of the AFL. And I think that might be a major help to the league. Having owners like KISS.
As much as I hate Jerry Jones, I wish he'd bring back the Dallas Desperados.

Damn, sucks to see the Rush go. I was never a big Arena Football fan, but this one time I was bored I turned on the TV and saw the Arenabowl on. I got really hyped. After they won, I ran around the house going "YEAH! WE'RE THE ARENABOWL CHAMPIONS!" and everyone just kinda looked at me weird. They were a pretty successful team, right?

In their 12 years of existence, they only missed the playoffs once, in 2012, where they were still 10-8. Hell, the year they won Arena Bowl XX, they were 7-9, and are the only professional sports team since the 1937-1938 Chicago Blackhawks to win a championship with a losing regular season record. Otherwise, their worst regular season record was 7-7 and 8-8. And they had 6 Division Titles. So they were a very successful team. Unfortunately, in the end, it was bad ownership that killed this team. Just like any other great indoor/arena team.
