I have said before, but going to (Albany) Firebirds games are some of the fondest memories of my childhood. We were season ticket holders and loved it. Eddie Brown was a God around these parts. I'll go to my dad's soon to see if he has any pics left from the season ticket holder dinners and activities we went to. I found out Antonio was Eddie's son last year when Antonio had custom cleats made in honor of his dad.

And the Arizona Rattlers defeat the Sioux Falls Storm, 50-41, to win United Bowl XIII.
F***.

The Jacksonville Sharks defeated the Columbus Lions, 27-21, on Monday to become the inaugural NAL Champions.
Yesterday afternoon, the Spokane Empire, the team that replaced the Spokane Shock, ceased operations after just two years in the IFL.

Is there any hope in Arena Football staying alive? It just seems to be faltering slowly down to rec league level.

Most of the league is in the Midwest, so 6 of the teams from IFL would have easier travel schedules. Arizona would have Duke City (Albuquerque) and the Texas teams, at least.

A lot of people were freaking out, because Sioux Falls wasn't part of that list. Well, the HC Kurtiss Riggs was on the radio this afternoon, and he said that they have until September 1st to sign their letter of intent for the IFL. But to me, this looks like a front by the IFL. "Nothing to see here, everything's fine, move along, these aren't the droids you're looking for, etc." I think there's more to this.

Sioux Falls joins the CIF.
And three failed leagues have merged into another league that may fail in a year.

From what I've heard, there seemed to be some bad blood between the Storm and the IFL.
Also, it sounded like the 5 remaining teams (the Rattlers, the Danger, the Blizzard, the Barnstormers, and the Titans) banded together to try and get the CIF to agree to a list of demands the teams had and wanting to join the CIF, and the CIF was like, "F*** you."
So yeah. The IFL is gonna have 5 teams next year. Same as the AFL.

Bloomington & West Michigan went from CIF to IFL.
Frankly, I'm not sure that's a sound strategy.
But, what do I know? The seedy underbelly of indoor football won't change any time soon.

If you look closely at it, I think it may have been a good strategy. Bloomington is fairly close to Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and Green Bay. The only one they'd be fairly close to in the CIF would be Quad Cities. Same with West Michigan. Nebraska would be a bit of a trip, but nothing those two hadn't experienced. The big one would be Arizona, but from what it sounds, Arizona has been paying for teams to go there, since they still have the budget/capital of an AFL team.

Wow. I just read some rumors in the Indoor Football World that I'm not happy about. @jdogindy, if you want me to PM you the dirt, I can. But I won't say much until the news breaks.
