I'm totally watching it, and thank you SyFy for showing the 2 miniseries and most of the tv series, very cool.
Really do hope Michael Ironside and Marc Singer show up in some way in the new one.

It didn't feel like an 11 to me. It was good in ways so I'll check out next weeks.

Really liked it. Hadn't been that hooked in by a television drama's opener since the first episode of 24.

I liked it and it made me watch again. I'm interested in all the characters so far, so the show did it's job.

I agree! I couldn't stop watching. They cast Anna perfectly. Funny you mentioned 24 as I told my wife the same thing! I agree with an earlier poster though when they said that they hope the series is already planned out... hope the entire story has already been written and that it has a clear ending. Great show though.

The previews looked interesting and I'll probably catch episodes after they air on Hulu. Two things confuse me, though (unrelated to the show itself):
1) Why is this going head-to-head against NCIS?
2) I guess they plan on airing 4 episodes now, then wait 'til Spring to finish the season. That just seems like a bad decision that could cause some people to lose interest during that unnecessarily long gap.

I saw it. It was okay. Nothing special. Though, Morena Baccarin was great as Anna. She managed to sound comforting and menacing at the same time. That is talent.
Also, Baccarin and Alan Tudyk, both from Firefly, are in this show. And, as aliens. In fact, they should get the rest of the cast of Firefly to play aliens. I would mark like a young wrestling fan meeting John Cena.

That just seems like a bad decision that could cause some people to lose interest during that unnecessarily long gap. ABC's justification for this is that they want the next set of nine episodes to seem like more of an event. I don't necessarily agree that will work, but yeah.

Never watched American television. Always watched wrestling on Canadian channels.
I WILL watch this intently, and get ABC on my dish to do so.

So, basically Anna is Diana, Erica is Julie, Father Landry is Donovan, Ryan is Martin, Chad is Christine, Lisa is Brian? Not sure about Tyler yet, if he's Robin or maybe Daniel? A mix of both perhaps. Anyway, nice first episode to get you hooked for more. Went a little fast though, covering in 45 minutes what the original spent the entire first miniseries revealing. I'm surprised they didn't reveal {Spoiler}the visitor being after our water and using us for food. But it's the kind of thing that is needed with todays viewers short attention span I guess.

I was pretty surprised I have to admit. It's better than I thought it would be by a long shot. I'll definitely give this a shot again.
I want my Ironside cameo too!

I thought overall it was excellent but the above hit my one small complaint right on the head. It seemed a little rushed. Not sure whey they couldn't have given this a two hour pilot episode so the reveal didn't have to come about so fast. I think it would've been better if Erica had left the meeting not believing any of it and then later discovered her partner was a visitor. Overall though, looking forward to more. On a side note I just finished watching this on DVR since I couldn't turn my back on NCIS last night.

Really wish it could have been a 2hour first episode but what can ya do.
Also kind of miss the slightly weird voices of the original visitors would have been cool if most of them wore sunglasses as well.

It was horrible. They should've left it be. I subjected myself to an hour of it and I regret it. {Spoiler}They took a cool story and made it into "V" meets "24". They messed it up, plain and simple. Shame on them.

I havent seen the original or anything, but it seemed like they crammed a whole seasons worth of stuff into one episode. It wasnt bad by any means, just sort of felt rushed.

It felt rushed but so has ABC's other big sci-fi show Flash Forward...
I must say that this episode had me more hooked after one episode than any series ever...and I'm not usually a sci-fi guy outside of Lost...

Yeeeeeah I have to agree. If that was my project I wouldn't have done it quite like that. There were a lot of ways they could've got us intrigued and hooked us on watching without shooting their load on revealing that the visitors are hostile within the first hour.
I'm keeping in mind that pretty much every show's pilot episode is awkward, but thus far...as silly as it sounds, I prefer the original.
I do look forward to the next episode though, the preview made it look interesting enough.
