Some remake are pointless, others are guaranteed to suck and then you have the ones you just plain look forward too. This is the latter. Ever since the trailer I've been salivating in anticipation for it to arrive. I don't feel it can top the original as I see that as damn near perfect, but seeing as how it was butchered after creator Kenneth Johnson left the project it really deserves a remake. Hopefully this one will be a huge success. And please, let the woman among women herself, the one woman that could turn me straight, Jane Badler, get something to do, even if it isn't Diana. Anyone else gonna watch?

I thought it was going to be a new mini series but I guess it's an actual regular series. Looking forward to it (even though it's on opposite NCIS), but hope they have a predetermined idea of how many seasons they want and plan accordingly. I'd like to see the story unfold and conclude at the right rate and not seem to drag on longer than it should.
And I am greatly encouraged by the following:
E! Online rated the pilot episode "on a scale of 1 to 10, we give it an 11. V is the best pilot we've seen in, well, forever."[9] The website Seat42F rated the pilot episode an A+, applauding its cast and effects and naming it one of the best pilots in years.

I don't see the point. V was pretty good, I thought it explored the Alien Invasion concept pretty well, brought quality special effects to television, and had a great swerve with the Reptioids. The Final Battle worked out pretty well too, even if the ending sucked, and no one can replicate Michael Ironside's part as Ham Tyler, save Mr. T or Chuck Norris, or Batman. And the Series wasn't as good as the two Miniseries, but explored the concept. It's not like BG which had a good concept but sucked as a show. I mean, come up with new ideas already! I mean, Reptiles, trying to eat us, take our water, got it.

I got a question about the original? Was there a miniseries, a tv series, and a movie or what? How many incarnations of the original was there and in what order would someone watch them? My brother got V: The complete series on DVD. Where does that fit in? I have no friggin' clue! Oh, and I'm watching tomorrow night.

It's followed by a 3 part miniseries; V the Final Battle. The creator wanted to continue making a miniseries once in a while but the studio wanted a series. It lasted 19 episodes I believe.

As long as they air it opposite of NCIS, I'm sorry, nope, I'm not watching. As I stated in an earlier thread, is it a wise idea to put it up against the number one show on Television? I understand the pilot may pull down great numbers, but will it last against that Juggernaut?

The original series also had Michael Ironside, which was awesome....until he left. It also ended on a horrible cliff-hanger that was never resolved. I may give this a shot but I won't hope for much.

I think the Complete Series dvd is the tv series so it is after V the original miniseries and V the Final Battle. I didn't think the TV series wasn't too bad. It followed the progression of the series of being less good, like TV series is less than Final Battle is lesser than the Original. I didn't know that Kenneth Johnson wasn't involved in the production of Final Battle when I first saw it but I just felt something was off. The TV series wasn't the same without Michael Wright as Elias and Michael Ironside, whose bad ass Ham Tyler was the perfect compliment to Mark Singers Mike Donovan. I read that the remake may feature cameos from the original actors later on. Johnson wrote a novel based on his original scripts for after V the original that removes the Final Battle and the tv series, he was not part of the production of Final Battle . It's call V the second generation and is about the alien enemies for the Visitors that they tried to contact at the end of the original series. It's an interesting take from Johnson, who had hoped to turn this into a sequel until the execs decided on a full fledged remake. I've read it isn't a particularly well written novel since it is translated from his scripts but if you are interested in V, maybe you'd like to see it. I'll probably be flipping through this and 30 for 30, Without Bias.
