I went to see Metallica in Albany NY last night. It was a great show. A buddy of mine went with me. We got there about 15 minutes late, though we didn't really seem to miss much, just the opening band (it was some band from Demark). Lamb of God played next (which was good). Then Metallica took the stage and it was a really great show.
Plus it was easy to get there and we got out really quick when we left.

Awesome.
I'm going to see them in January. Which songs should I expect?

I was there as well, right next to the stage the entire night. It was awesome! Shook hands with James, and got crushed by the crowd. It took me FOREVER to get out of there, maybe because I parked on the roof of the parking garage.
SoulEraser, expect 5-6 songs from the new album, with a lot of old stuff mixed in, and the usual stuff (Enter Sandman, Sad But True, etc.)

I hope their concert here is as good as the Maiden one.

I'm going to see them at MSG tomorrow night actually. The other group you're thinking of is Volbeat. Can't wait. First time seeing Metallica.

Awesome. I'm going to see them in January. Which songs should I expect? They'll definitely throw in a healthy portion of "Death Magnetic" songs... but they typically change up their set every night. But they've definitely concentrated on material from their first few albums lately.

I saw em back in March, they were amazing. They change their set every show. I got The Sword (meh) and Machine Head (F*** YES) as support. The set Glasgow got was... That Was Just Your Life The End of the Line For Whom The Bell Tolls Of Wolf and Man One Broken, Beat & Scarred My Apocalypse Sad But True Turn the Page All Nightmare Long The Day That Never Comes Master Of Puppets Fight Fire With Fire Nothing Else Matters Enter Sandman -------------------------------------------- Die Die My Darling Trapped Under Ice Seek and Destroy So know you'll be getting a hell of a show no matter what they play, it's all good. No Load, Reload or St Anger Oh, and I'm deeply sorry you had to endure Lamb of God.

I saw Rob, but he was on the phone with someone, talking about GH: Metallica. Awesome night, I was right down at the front for the first songs, got crushed during For Whom the Bell Tolls, though, so I sat up at the back right next to Machine Head. Great night!

Trapped Under Ice isn't one often in their set list,up until this tour at least.According to setlist.fm they've only played that song live 15 times, with 11 of those 15 being on this tour

Awesome. I'm going to see them in January. Which songs should I expect? Apparently you can look forward to having Seek and Destroy on the set list as the finish according to the set lists that have been listed so far. Oh, and I'm deeply sorry you had to endure Lamb of God. I didn't think Lamb of God was that bad, though I'm not much into groups that have the lead singer scream the lyrics. I was there too. VIP passes, bitches! I got to meet Kirk, James and Lars. I saw Rob, but he was on the phone with someone, talking about GH: Metallica. Awesome night, I was right down at the front for the first songs, got crushed during For Whom the Bell Tolls, though, so I sat up at the back right next to Machine Head. Great night! Ok, I admit, I'm jealous. That's pretty cool you got to meet the guys. I plan on getting the GH:Metallica game some day, but since I'm cheap, I'm going to pick the game up after it goes down in price.

I would assume the band you missed was Volbeat. If it was you missed out, I caught them at a festival over the summer (having no idea what they were like beforehand) and loved it.

I wanted to go, but I farted around and couldn't get the day off. Plus I got other stuff going on, so taking time off was out of the question anyways. Ah well, sounds like it was a great show either way. Glad you guys had fun!

I'm f***ing jealous of each and every one of you It's ok, it's been well over 3 years since I last saw Metallica. Guess the fact that they played the Master of Puppets album right through made up for it though

I was there Tuesday in Buffalo right up front on the barricade (and got 2 guitar picks from Metallica). Volbeat were OK but I wasn't a huge fan of the vocals. Lamb of God were amazing and one of my favorite bands so what little voice I had left after the Tech N9ne concert I went to the night before was gone by the end of LoG's set as I was growling along with the words. I made sure to DL the Metallica set the next day off their site as I felt that it was totally worth it. Here's the setlist from Buffalo minus that song (AKA me listing the tracks from my download, haha):
-That Was Just Your Life -The End of the Line -Creeping Death -No Remorse -One -Broken, Beat, and Scarred -Cyanide -Sad but True -Turn the Page -All Nightmare Long -Kirk Solo #1 -The Day that Never Comes -Master of Puppets -Damage, Inc. -Kirk Solo #2 -Nothing Else Matters -Enter Sandman -Encore Jam -Blitzkrieg -Phantom Lord -Seek and Destroy
