Since it's on AMC and all and it must be watched every time it's on. Anyway, I find it kind of interesting how Auntie and her crew of Bartertown aren't really all that bad or evil in anyway. They actually have a pretty well run society going there, with law, order and a working economic system which all must be like a heaven on Earth compared to whats out there in the waste lands. Really the worst thing they want to do is get rid of an extortionist who's mucking up stuff just for his own petty pleasures. I dunno, I just find it neat that in a movie the "bad guys" aren't actually bad at all.

I have noticed this too. I think it is more like the world is evil and everyone is forced to do what they have to for survival. Look at how Max treats the children he find. He punches the one girl in the face to keep her from wandering off to Barter Town. I like this movie a lot but it kind of falls apart in the third act. I really start to wonder what everyone is fighting for and it doesn't hold the kind of tension that the end of Road Warrior does.

Now, now. Can't we just get beyond Thunderdome?

I think the reason why Bartertown is considered evil is its general ruthlessness in its laws and how harsh they are on an outsider

I think the reason why Bartertown is considered evil is its general ruthlessness in its laws and how harsh they are on an outsider Well they and Max are both ruthless sons of guns. You gotta to thrive in such an environment. Max is basically the hero because he isn't as evil or bad. I think the appliance of the Leone westerns to the Mad Max sequels make sense. Can't wait for Fury Road.

Cutest. Thunderdome. Reference. When my friend's first child was born, I so wanted to get the girl a little Samurai helmet, so he could carry her around like Master Blaster. Unfortunately, you know how hard it is to find a samurai helmet for babies?

I still think Khali and Horswoggle ought to do a Master Blaster costume one year for Halloween.
