The A.V. Club has been putting together various "Best of the '00s" lists with movies, music, television and such and have now moved on to video games. As more of a general media review site than one specialized with video games, I thought it was pretty cool to read about an "outside" view on video games, judging them more on enjoyability and their social impact than technical issues such as graphics. The whole list can be read HERE but for those who just want to cut to the chase, here's the list: 15 - SSX3 14 - The Sims 13 - Ninja Gaiden 12 - Braid 11 - Advance Wars 10 - Left 4 Dead 9 - Final Fantasy XII 8 - Grand Theft Auto: Vice City 7 - Ico 6 - World of Warcraft 5 - Portal 4 - Rock Band 3 - Fallout 3 2 - Katamari Damacy 1 - Bioshock

Final Fantasy XII over X? Off topic, but I always wondered why people complained about the dubbing on this scene so much. The laughter was supposed to sound fake and forced. That was the whole point of the scene! Now, continuing with the thread... SSX 3 is there but there's no DMC 3?! WHAT THE HELL?!

Advance Wars? Seriously? I'm sure it's a good game, but still... I mean, Halo was unrepresented. And Guitar Hero, which was first. Strange list.

No Metal Gear Solid 2, 3 or 4? Only Vice City? Not even Call of Duty?

Despite the sound track, Vice City was my least favorite of the 3 major PS2 GTAs. As far as an actual game goes, I don't see how people can prefer it over San Andreas. GTA SA just perfected the PS2 GTA game. But GTA IV is the best.
MGS 3 should be there as well...

Their rational didn't always make sense. They picked Ico because it set the template for that studio's games, but went with Vice City over GTA 3?

Prince of Persia on PS2 should be on the list.
On everyone's list.

Okay, out of that list... The Sims, L4D, WoW and RB definitely belong. GTA:VC probably, although I'd go with SA, personally.
Criminal they didn't include Halo 3 or a CoD.
Oh, and SSX3 gets in but TH:AW doesn't? Easily the best Tony Hawk. Fun story mode and an open city you can travel across without a heavy reliance on meaningless tasks or a ton of focus on Tony Hawk or Bam itself. Plus, insanely tight controls.
I'd also argue Morrowind or Oblivion belongs on as well.

SSX 3 is the worst in the series. Now SSX Tricky, was great I disagree. SSX 3 was a very solid game and I liked the freedom that was given as you roamed all over the mountain. Tricky had style, but SSX3 had substance. However, I don't understand why SSX3 is one of the top 15 video games of the decade. Solid game, but there were definitely better gaming experiences out there in the past 10 years.

GTA SA just perfected the PS2 GTA game. But GTA IV is the best. MGS 3 should be there as well... SA pushed the PS2 capability to the limit. Seriously, unless someone cares to make an example, I don't know of any recent game which stunned people as much as SA did in showing up Vice City. Which itself stunned alot of folks after GTA 3. Really, how isn't GTA 3 on the list? So influential for better or for worse, and you know what? Still hella ton of fun in spite of the later sequels' better gameplay, graphics, etc.
