What the hell kind of a name is that?
How did the best actor out of the original V lot get stuck with quite possibly the worst name imaginable?
At least dude's real name is badass enough to make up for it. "Michael Ironside", that's a true rockstar, knight, and or porn star name.
I still love V and V: The Final Battle and all, but who names their kid after pork product?

I wonder if he's related to Lift Sawyer. Hmm...
Anyways, I always thought Rip Torn was a weird, yet awesome name. Who'd have thought to name their kid with a synonym of their last name? Like's like naming your kid Punch Fought or Run Jogged.

Not his real first name (that'd be Elmore) but apparently it's a family nickname for, like, all the males.

Well, let's figure out what it means. It's a name from the Bible. Ham, the Son of Noah, survivor of the Great flood, and father of the African Nations. The name means "Heat," which is appropiate, as Ham's descendents populated Africa, or so it is written. Tyler, basically means, a Craftsmen who works on roof tiles. So, Heat Roof Craftsmen? I suppose Heat could mean guns, but who knows. At least it's better than "Porkins"

I'm pretty sure "Ham" is short for Hamilton. I remember reading an article from when the original series was on which said that Ham's full name was Clarence Hamilton Tyler. I guess he'd rather be called by a pork product than called "Clarence" :-)

I still love V and V: The Final Battle and all, but who names their kid after pork product? That must have been some awesome ham his parents ate to come up with that name. Fine ham abounds!
