no trailer, this is not an uplifiting family comedy! stop that!
See the trailer makes it seem like a quirky family comedy, in reality this movie has been reported as being one of the saddest films all year. Not only that, the title is supposed to be an ironic play on the phrase "everybody's fine" that people say over the phone to relatives, when in actuality everything is not fine.
I'm just picturing everyone going in to see this movie expecting an uplifiting tale of a father visiting his kids, and that's not this film at all.

If they see that trailer and they haven't seen the film that this is a remake of, yeah I expect a lot of people to get a movie they aren't expecting.

Why do they do this? Adventureland was partially ruined for me because they made it out like it was Superbad but it was more like Dazed and Confused with cardboard cutouts and less humor.
All that this leads to is bad word of mouth usually, as people may choose to pass until it comes out on DVD.

It's like calling Slumdog Millionaire "the feel-good movie of the year" or not mentioning Sweeney Todd was a musical, I think it's just wrongful advertising.

I saw the advert and it didn't really come off as a feel good thing to me.

They also do this with the new movie The Road. They make it look like a very Mad Max action packed post apocalypse movie but it is actually very slow with very little action.........just like the book which I wouldn't say is a bad thing. I haven't seen it but from reading the book and seeing the trailer I could tell right away what they were doing.

Not the first time that a movie has been marketed wrong. One that was this year that comes to mind is Watchmen. They marketed it as some sort of typical comic book movie, when it wasn't in the least. I had read the graphic novel so I knew what to expect, but the people with me didn't.

oh and another film, Brothers!
the trailer makes it look like a soap opera, but the movie is a character study about a guy who comes back from war.
