Both were talented, both had a bunch of hits... Which do YOU prefer? No Beatles, no Monkees.

The Beatles anyday of the year. The Monkees wish they were as talented and groundbreaking.

That's just no competition.Sure the Monkees had some good songs, but the band or the show wouldn't have existed without The Beatles and their ignition of the British Invasion. That and they're my favorite band of all time.
The Beatles by several million miles.

Theo: "Well, we're real big fans of ya'lls!" Dave: "Huge fans! You guys are almost as good as The Monkees. You guys are great."

The Beatles hands down. They made their own music on ALL of their albums, and were miles ahead of The Monkees in every aspect.

The Monkees
Sure, The Beatles are "better" and all, but I actually enjoy listening to The Monkees. EVERYONE loves The Beatles. Someone has to love The Monkees. And that someone is me. Of course, the fact that I pretty much grew up with The Monkees due to listening to my mom's Best Of tape non-stop has something to do with it.

I like The Monkees "Head" album( great parody of the music of the era) and Mike Nesmith's "national band" projects. The Nesmiths are an interesting clan, between liquid paper and music videos, what else could they do?

Lately, I prefer the Troggs.
I mean, why not? With a Girl like you, wild thing...those guys were awesome. And check out this song:
holy s***! The Troggs should be mentioned is the same breath as Beatles, Monkees, Stones, etc.

Monkees. I hate the Beatles, except George Harrison. I only liked his song "Got My Mind Set on You".

The Beatles. More music over a longer span of time that rocked and solo albums by the Beatles that stood up to their band albums.

The Monkees Sure, The Beatles are "better" and all, but I actually enjoy listening to The Monkees. EVERYONE loves The Beatles. Someone has to love The Monkees. And that someone is me. Of course, the fact that I pretty much grew up with The Monkees due to listening to my mom's Best Of tape non-stop has something to do with it. Took the words right out of my mouth. I grew up on reruns of The Monkees on Nickelodeon. The show was fun, and I started really liking the music. I found some old Monkees records my dad had as a kid, and my love for music started there (The Monkees Greatest Hits was the first CD I ever bought). The Beatles are obviously musically superior to The Monkees, but The Monkees hold sentimental value to me as the ones that got me hooked on music, that I enjoy their music much more for that reason. Not to mention, Michael Nesmith's solo stuff is better than either The Monkees or The Beatles in my opinion. And I am probably the only person on earth with that opinion ;D
