It's definitely one of my favorite games of the past 10 years and something I can still play just about every day for a couple of hours or so at a time. Good choice, IMO.

Yeah, I'd have to say that GTA would have something to say about that, or probably World of Warcraft. Both games were just as big and made a huge impact on gaming in their respective platforms.

Yeah. RB2 definitely was a great game and should easily be in the top 10... but I'd say GTA, WoW and CoD deserve nods, probably above RB2. ...And this is from a buythat's played B2 and GTA but none of the latter.
Also, no love for L4D2 or Halo:ODST makes me sad. Both were great, great games. They're the only two games I got new at close to MSRP this year... and the only two games I've ever pre-ordered. (Well, okay... I pre-ordered Fable II:PH, but that was mainly because I had $10 promotion that needed to be used up from Halo:ODST... which dropped it to $20. That hardly counts).
I'm hoping ACII lives up to the hype I'm hearing. I snagged it today for $30 with the $10 promotion from L4D2.

Not my personal choice of the decade but I can see why.

I will never understand the appeal of musical games, but then, I also don't care the slightest bit what the press thinks.

Rock Band 2 was and still is great. But I wouldn't call it the game of the decade.

Rock Band 2 was a pretty good game, but no where NEAR game of the decade. If we look at which game revolutionized and defined gaming in the 2000s, it is one of 4 choices:
- GTA3, it made open world games and the story mode to be optional, are popular thing. - World of Warcraft, if there is one thing the 2000s should be remembered for, gaming wise, is the domination of MMORPGs and none of them is bigger than WoW. It isn't the first, but it is the best. - Halo: Combat Evolved. Say what you will about Halo, like it or hate it, it made FPS games on consoles a truly viable option and come on, look at the games with scores in the 80% and 90% range, a huge chunk of them are FPS, and the hallmark "package deal" of the decade, The Orange Box, is nothing but FPS games. Halo made console FPS games fun and viable, for better or for worse. - Resident Evil 4/Gears of War. These two are tied, imo, for what they did for the third person shooter. Until either of these games came out, the TPS was the FPS' bitch, both on PC and consoles. Now there are just as many big name TPS games as there are FPS games, a huge thanks do the the over the shoulder camera of RE4 and the combination of the RE4 camera + the WinBack cover system in Gears of War. Almost every TPS game has those features now, the RE4 camera for damn sure.

When it comes to mainstream appeal and bringing all kinds of people in to play, Rock Band 2 probably wins.
But when it comes to societal impact, I'd probably have to give GTA3 (or any of the sequels) a slight nod.

I'd give it to World of Warcraft, although that's not as much a game as it is a video crack addiction.

Where's The Guy Game?
Seriously, though, I agree and I can see why. As noted, the GTA games and WoW games are epic in their own right, but Rock Band 2 was a game that all ages could enjoy, and that's what sells games, systems and accessories. I was just playing it last weekend with a friend of mine. Definitely a great game.

Then, in that case, why not pick Wii Sports?
If we are going at this from a sort of casual view, then Wii Sports is a better game of the decade than Rock Band 2. It is the sole reason the Wii is so success.
