What I loved about the Simpsons in its middle period was how it balanced irreverence and pop culture jokes with a sense of heart when needed- like in "Bart Sells His Soul", there's a mix of the goofy storyline of Uncle Moe's Family Feedbag blended with Bart legitimately being upset that's he's soulless, and his trademark bravado disappears as he tries to get it back. A lot of the later episodes feel desperate and strained in that regard.
(For the record, I don't have a problem with Family Guy lacking "heart" for the most part, because I understand that's mainly a gag show.)

It is a compliment because it means that I DO ENJOY IT Besides you can't point something out as Classic because it will undoubtedly called UNClassic by somebody because it's a subjective term There's probably people who didn't like the old episodes because of there references that they didn't understand That doesn't make them wrong it's just there bloody opinion You're right, there are people who hate the old episodes, but that doesn't stop me from saying that Homer at the Bat, Homer vs. The City of New York, You Only Move Twice, and Mr. Plow are some of my favorites in addition to all the Treehouse of Horror episodes. I'm not saying your opinion is wrong. Apparently you find something entertaining in the recent episodes, and that's fine. I'd rather hear what that is than the tiresome rubber-stamp argument of "it's the best in the sea of mediocrity." I enjoy watching a family comedy that can both mock the Family Stereotype but at the same time not completly spit on the idea of a Family I like how they go for laughs but also a message and usually culminate in one big gag Like when they did that Immigration Episode awhile back when they built a huge wall with the immigrants to keep each other apart Then after finishing it the immigrants open the door in the middle of the wall and ask ''Did You Miss Us?'' ''Yeah''
