I'll start from the beginning. A few months ago, I started speaking to an old school crush on facebook. I hadn't seen her for like, 8 years, she told me stuff like she knew I liked her back then, yes I was that obvious even though she was engaged at the time. So yeah, I sent her a message telling her I was interested in her, didn't hear from her for days so apologised for making things awkward when we were getting on so well as friends.
She told me I didn't make things awkward, but that she's not looking to date anyone at the moment as she has a lot going on in her life, and that to be honest, it wouldn't be fair as with the state of mind she's in, she would probably cheat and she doesn't want to hurt me.
I mentioned my workplace was throwing a Christmas party, and that I wasn't sure if I wanted to go, and she told me she'd go with me as my date for the evening. Anyway, the night of the party, we met up outside the bar, and we got drinks, then sat down and talked. We were actually quite nervous around each other to start with seeing as it was like 8 years since we last spoke properly. We warmed to each other though as the night went on. She went from sitting opposite me, to sitting next to me sharing a plate of snacks, we found a room with a DJ and I asked her if she wanted to dance with me, and she did (no slow dances though).
We shared a cab home and that was it. She said it was nice seeing me again, nice catching up with me, told me she had a good time, and then the cab took me back to my place. We've been talking since, she told me she really wasn't looking past us being friends at the moment, so that sucks, but i'm still hoping i'll win her round. I'm trying to find the right moments to back off and talk, then back off again.
It's just typical that when she's finally single, she's in a phase where she doesn't wanna date anyone...bloody typical, lol...
So any advice on how to take this from here is much appreciated.
