It was great to hear the McMahon/Ventura commentary team again tonight on RAW. The bowtie, the glasses, it was great. It seems like they didn't lose a step. Felt like I was watching the old WWF Superstars or Wrestling Challenge there.

I posted this in another thread, but the appreciation thread seems more appropriate for my comments, so I'll post it here too; Vince McMahon and Jesse Ventura are my favorite commentary team of all time, and last night proved exactly why!!! The two of them still have "it", and got into a pretty good groove after shaking off the "cobwebs". And people wonder why Vince is so tough on his commentators, just remember that Vince was one of the BEST EVER, especially when he was in the booth with Jesse!!! If they don't come back as a commentary team on TV, hopefully they'll reunite as an alternate commentary team for next year's "Legends Of Wrestlemania" video game (a got a little tired of hearing J.R. & King on EVERY SINGLE MATCH for last year's "Legends" game).

It was a fantastic moment for old farts like me who actually lived for wrestling in the 80's and it was the most fun I had watching wrestling in years.

The only thing that was missing was the old light blue jacket Vince used to wear on the old Superstars of Wrestling syndicated show.

It made me realize even more just how horrible Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler are.

Was amazing.. wished they just did commentary for the whole show without any explanation ...

My only complaint might be that Vince doesn't or didn't have the high pitch of mark excitement as he did back in the day.
Out of whack or just got old, whatever it was fun.

great to see. Not only was it good to listen to, but it also spared us 30 more minutes of Lawler/Cole commentary.

I thought for a moment that Jesse broke the fourth wall when he went on that rant about being a Vietnam vet, and he wasn't a coward. Then I remembered that he's said that a couple of times with Vince on commentary. I just enjoyed the hell out of hearing "shut up, Vince."

Brought back a lot of wonderful memories! Though it would have been great to hear Vince say "BIIIIIIIIIIIIG BACK BODY DROP!" or "WHATAMANEUVER!"

My only complaint might be that Vince doesn't or didn't have the high pitch of mark excitement as he did back in the day. Out of whack or just got old, whatever it was fun. Same here. I wanted to hear McMahon shamelessly root for the good guys but I guess he couldn't completely break character for the segment. In any case, it was awesome hearing the two of them together again and made me long for the days of Saturday Morning Superstars.

Jesse is without a doubt the best ever guest host.
There was just something lovely about hearing him say "Shut up McMahon".

The blue jacket was the only thing that held them back from being perfect.

Did anyone else think Vince looked like Mr Bob Backlund when he came out with this tux and bowtie?
Thought they were awesome and really did get their groove going after all these years. Ventura really kicked butt as a guest host last night.

This might have been the highlight of Raw for me, and I thought this was the best Raw in quite some time. Mcmahon and Ventura commentating together brought me back a long ways back to when I was just a little kid watching old tapes. I think by 91 when I started watching, they weren't commentating together anymore, but I've seen enough tapes and now dvds to say that they are definitely one of my favorite teams and last night was classic.
I was a little worried that Vince would play his over the top Mr. Mcmahon character and it would ruin the segment, but he slipped right back into "announcer" Vince mode and played the straight man to Jesse. It was truly a great moment.

I tuned in just for the main event last night and was pleasantly surprised to hear McMahon/Ventura. I had never heard them before as I don't watch much old footage but they were incredible. It leads me to believe that part of the reason why the battle royal was so awesome, was because those two were commentating.
I firmly believe people wouldn't think RAW was so bad if the commentating wasn't dreadful. RAW is alot better than I think many of the people on this board give it credit for, bad crowds and bad commentating can really drag down a show.
