Agreed. I would also say that fits into the whole 'scene style' somewhat...then again, seeing as I choose to stay away from the whole 'scene' fad, I probably don't know as much as I should about it. Another lesser thing that happened this decade was that metal made a minor comeback. Yeah I think really hard metal influenced from Metallica and bands like that will make a huge comeback in the next decade. There is this very young band all still in their teens called Crooked X who are a lot like Metallica. I'm not big into the "new metal" what ever it is called. I usually call it grunge metal because that is exactly what it is. It's usually bands that were all influenced by Disturbed. Actually, most of the mainstream harder bands are pretty much "butt rock" like Nickelback and Hinder and such. But you do have a good theory. We had metal ruling in the '80s, which turned to grunge in the '90s, which turned to nu-metal in the early '00s and then generic rock now. But with stuff like Dethklok and Mastodon creeping into the mainstream, maybe we'll see metal break out of the underground a little bit. I think overall, the decade will most be known for the bubblegum pop of the late '90s transforming into dance club hits, with a bit of butt rock, hip-hop and hipster indie stuff on the side.

One thing I've noticed is that in the 00s, it's actually cool to be a nerd. Oh, being a nerd had its moments before, but when I was growing up, being a nerd was the worst thing you could be in school. Now, chicks dig nerds. Unbelievable
