I just got back from my local arcade and I did something I thought I could do, I won two free games on two different pinball machines. Not the free game from matching the last two numbers of your score but actually earning free games by playing and racking up points. The first was on Cirqus Voltaire, a really great game I like a lot. Today I was playing better than usual and got a freebie after one of my better multi balls. But that's not the best part.
I won a free game on Bride Of Pin Bot. If you've never played that machine, holy hell, it will job you so fast it's criminal. That machine has zero empathy whatsoever, I swear there's a magnet down the chute. Somehow I managed to get into a groove and I won a free game (don't ask me how, I blacked out for a while). Of course with my free game I got jobbed in under a minute, I think I managed to hit the ball twice. But hey, I got a free game on a friggin' tough machine so I'm happy.

Well it took only 3 seasons and a grand total record of 38-1 over those 3 years, but I got the San Jose State Spartans, the worst team in NCAA Football 2007 and a team in the WAC, into the Pac-10. They replaced Washington State, oh and had two straight seasons of going to BCS bowl games, the first season the bowl game they went to was the BCS National Championship against Ohio State, who in Ohio State fashion jobbed pretty badly to us. The following year, we finished the regular season the #3 ranked team in the nation and went into the Rose Bowl against a #8 USC team and shut them out. That's probably what helped us get into the Pac-10.

Pinball Zen is so awesome of a state to be in, pure concentration and the world is nothing but pings and bright lights.

My proudest gaming accomplishment to date is going coast to coast on Grand Theft Auto 2. 67 missions (counting the tutorial and the final kill the bosses mission) completed without once dying, failing, or getting arrested, and that includes those impossible tank missions.

in mlb2k9 i played a game as the cubs away against the giants...during the first at bat i used fukudome as my pinch hitter and they kept him in the game to pitch...he only has a fastball in the 50mph range....and i managed to throw a no hitter...there was much joy and laughs for accomplishing THAT feat...

Pinball Zen is so awesome of a state to be in, pure concentration and the world is nothing but pings and bright lights. Very true. Normally I just go with it but for Bride Of Pin Bot wish I had been paying attention just to know what was happening because I knew this moment was fleeting. There's a section where if you get the ball in the robot's mouth the entire face changes so the next time you have to get it into the eye holes. I think it was specifically designed to knock you out of the zone, because it's really creepy.

In Blitz: The League I was trailing 89-76 with 24 seconds remaining after throwing an interception run back for a touchdown. I bomb the ball downfield, score a touchdown, make the 2-point conversion, recover the onside kick, and connect 75 yards for a touchdown as time expires. Final score: Oakland Horde 90, Carolina Copperheads 89.
