All right. In another forum, I did a poll on best non Genesis/Mega Drive system, and Dreamcast won in a landslide.
So I ask you, the people: Which system was the better one for Sega: The Genesis/Mega Drive or the Dreamcast.
Things to take into consideration -Game Library -Fun Factor -Innovations
So have at thee.

Genesis Does.
While the Dreamcast has a solid library, I still think that the Genesis still has some of the best games ever made.

Genesis. IMHO It's still a cool retro system today despite being named after a Phil Collins band whilst the Dreamcast is sadly a dead end on the new technology highway

Genesis was actually one of the most influential systems ever made. Dreamcast, despite being defended literally to the death by Sega fans, didn't have much of a cultural impact.

That's a tough question, but I'm going with the Mega Drive.

Genesis for the vast and very fun library, and its controller was easy to handle.

The Genesis was a great system, but personally I have to go with the Dreamcast. The Dreamcast had a pretty killer library and some awesome innovations like the memory cards and web browsing. It's still sorta shocking the system didn't catch on like it should've.

For library and fun factor, Genesis. Dreamcast, unfortunately, didn't stick around long at all to match the Genesis.

That's like asking me to pick between my own children, man. I love them both.

Dreamcast did bring home online console gaming to the people. For that and the fact it had Marvel vs Capcom 2, Shenmue and Soul Calibur it has my vote.
What I like fighting games and megadrive lost badly to the snes in that respect.

Something people seem to forget (not a knock on anyone in the thread):
All that stuff our consoles do now that we take for granted?
Dreamcast did it first. (except being a movie player, though an add on was planned...so hey, it was gonna).

Maybe not as graphically solid, but they played well with the 6 button controller.

Besides Skies of Arcadia and Phantasy Star Online (which I will admit set a fire that still burns in the gaming world) what else did the Dreamcast have noteworthy in the RPG department? If you count the JRPG's that stayed in Japan maybe you have an argument, but there were several of those on the Genesis too. Though you might be right...I dunno, you're looking at a man who has only beaten five RPGs the whole way his whole life, and three of those are Pokemon games (the other three are Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door and Grandia II (via gameshark)). Point being, RPGs aren't a big deal to me. I gotta go with Void on this one, I just cannot pick at all.

Damn, you're asking me to pick between the two systems that made me love Sega, and the only two retro consoles that I still own to this day. If I have to choose one, I'll go with the Dreamcast for bringing us the NFL 2K series, arcade-perfect ports of Soul Caliber and MvC2, and providing a lot of innovation at the time. Besides Skies of Arcadia and Phantasy Star Online (which I will admit set a fire that still burns in the gaming world) what else did the Dreamcast have noteworthy in the RPG department? Grandia II is really the only other one I can think of. The Dreamcast wasn't loaded at all when it comes to RPGs (which is one of many reasons why the PS2 was so much more successful IMO), but it did have excellent ones like Grandia and SoA.

MD/Genny. Dreamcast was neat, but I've always felt the Saturn was a better representative for a niche Sega system. Guardian Heroes, NIghts, Fighters Megamix, Panzer Dragoon, Shining Force 3...Those were games I felt like I couldn't get elsewhere. I liked the DC but stuff like Soul Calibur, Grandia 2 and Powerstone just don't hold the same uniqueness to me.
The Genesis did both solid mainstream and unique niche titles. The DC seemed to kinda come up short with both.

The MegaDrive had Streets of Rage 2, so it wins for that reason alone.

What Nintendon't. Seriously, my Genesis got a lot more playtime than my SNES.
