I'd say Cena wins the title back on Raw, then from there we get the new, totally fresh match up of Cena / Orton for the Rumble.
God, is the annual "screw you" to the brand split heading into Mania needed this year. SmackDown's loaded with top heels but has no top faces, while Raw's only got Boretons.

We now have 2 trains of thought developing now, and they can't both be true.
One is that Sheamus sucked up to HHH, and got a top spot because of it.
The other is that he is just a placeholder, they are half-assing his booking and they don't have any real plans for him.
This is just like the 'HHH buries young talent because he's paranoid about his spot/HHH is handing titles to young talent that he is friends with' arguments in that they both can't be true, and it therefore proves how ridiculous both of them were in the first place.

I guess I'm the latter. I really don't care if hes sucking up to Triple H because that's what a lot of people do at their jobs. I'm just going by the way he's been booked and so far, they have done nothing to make me give a shit about Sheamus and his 10 minutes of total time on Raw. Meanwhile Captain Feels Fine After Getting the Shit Kicked Out of You (Or CFFAGTSKOOY) gives 15 minute promos and is made to look like Sheamus is not in his league. Wait...Cena is the new Triple H! So Sheamus should be sucking up to Cena. And the circle is complete.

I'd be willing to bet there are a LOT of people in the WWE that suck up to Triple H. Sheamus is a transitional champion, although I have no idea why they're doing that now.

I actually like his push. I mean, the monster heel has to win the important matches sometimes and it gives you back the "anything can happen"-feeling.

The way I heard it, Vince needed to push someone extremely anti-Black to counter his pushing Kofi.
Sheamus = Whitest person in the WWE. 'Nuff said.

The argument that it's "too early to push Sheamus" ignores the fact that Cole and King were playing up the legitimacy of the 'Young Blood' all throughout RAW. Now, if Kofi were to face Orton for the WWE title, we wouldn't instantly assume Kofi would be jobbing anymore. Mission accomplished. Besides all that, if Sheamus is really a great guy backstage it encourages the rest of the locker room to not act like dicks if they ever hope to receive a high-profile ME run. I'm really not seeing a downside here.

Who cares?
They took the belt off of Cena and put it on a totally new guy. This shows that they're willing to take risks and yet, people still give them hell for it.
It's crap like this that has ruined wrestling.

It's crap like this that has ruined wrestling. They arent taking any risks. A risk would be something like Sheamus beating Cena clean, feuding with Cena and winning, then going on to hold the title for a good while. Complaining fans dont have any control over booking or what we see on TV. They deserve the blame for the state of wrestling today? Hmm. Okay.

I can't blame people for questioning why he has the belt. It's really hard to see what main event qualities he offers in that position. But if this story is true. It's messed up that Trip's has so much pull that he can orchestrate who gets the belt. If he has that much pull - why hasn't he got the belt himself? William Regal was one of the groomsmen at Triple H's wedding - if triple H has that pull, why hasn't Regal had a run with the title? Michaels is Triple H's best mate (and taught Triple H everything he knew about politics) - why hasn't he had the title in seven years? Well firstly, Regal has the drug history that likely affects how reliable they feel he could be in that position. It could alos be the case that Regal doesn't want the pressure of holding a top belt and carrying a brand on his shoulders. Just because we have one example doesn't prove the point. Michaels could also be in the same boat. He's got a history of problems in his legs. He doesn't want to work a full time schedule. I'm sure he's not exactly hurt if he's overlooked for a run with the belt. In any case he's in a position where people will love him whether he holds it or not. Sheamus has a good physical look. He's about the right size. He's at the start of his career. I'm sure he'd do anything possible to try and get a steady foothold in a very cut-throat industry. What I'm trying to say is I don't think everyone wants to hold the top belt. I'm sure no one would be ever forced to hold a title if they weren't confident in the idea.

HHH knows talent when he sees it. He's always mentioned that he gets fed up with so many young guys spending too much time playing video games and playing with their IPods rather than watching wrestling tapes and being backstage at shows that you're not required to be at, and that's an old school view. He's not the only one with that view. The guys that he's taken under his wing have all been huge successes. He's criticised a lot but one thing most people agree on is that he does know what draws.

Maybe. I will give the guy credit that he has the potential to be a great match booker. But at the same time, I question the guys objectivity when it comes to the guys he surrounds himself with. Just to put it into some perspective using two similar cases. On one hand you have Sheamus who has a relationship of sorts with Trips. He gets the top title in a matter of months with little fanfare or build. On the other hand, Umaga is known to be a good friend of John Cena. He has a great build and showing, yet gets mostly shuffled around the midcard despite all his offerings. That's what bugs me in this case. Both guys were close to top guys. Both are given shots at the top belts. Yet the comparatively inferior guy is rewarded the honor of holding the belt.

Maybe they didn't want to put the belt on someone who couldn't speak English and didn't have 'the look' of someone the fans can relate to. Umaga was great as a monster, but I think you're champions need to have some degree of normality about them. HHH seems to highly rate guys that are the complete package. Look, can talk, can work well against a variety of guys etc. Orton, Cena, Batista, Sheamus and Drew all have that.

Its like if they gave the belt to Snitsky two months after he debuted. It's a Wonderful Life 2: The Snitsky Stories, which shows how the whole WWE would be a better place if this happened. I have thought about this situation for a while now too. It seems as if the WWE just pulled a random name out of a hat and said here, you can be the champ. Whenever MVP, Morrison, Miz, Kofi or anybody like that who has been around a couple years gets a chance to be in that position it always ends up falling flat. Remember MVP's feud with Orton earlier this year? No? Well probably because it was over in about a week, due to Shane McMahon becoming the focal point. All I'm saying is for all the talk I'd hear around this site, and on wrestling podcasts & radio shows that "Well wrestler X isn't ready yet to beat Cena" or "he's not really been built up to be a champion contender yet" or "this guy is a joke. why should he beat the top guy in the company?" there seems to be a consensus by some of those same people that it is ok for Sheamus to be champ now, which is just hypocrisy. It's almost like if you are thirsty and ask for a drink of water. You don't get it. You ask again for some water, and don't get it. So you ask once more "Please can I have some water!" And still nothing. Then out of the blue, somebody runs in on you a week later, and dumps 90 gallons of water on you while you are sleeping. It feels like the WWE are saying to me, "Hey! Hey, look we pushed a new star to the top title in our company. See?!" The whole thing feels random and forced in my opinion. I don't dislike or hate Sheamus. I would take anybody else winning the title in a Cena match. I find the 'Celtic Warrior' to be interesting somewhat from what little I have watched of him before his championship run, but I never thought to myself, "Wow this guy should be champ right now." With that said, I wonder how long it will be before the inevitable loss back to Cena.

Explain how he got the belt about as fast as Brock Lesnar? Despite very little buildup and not showing any particular reason why he deserves it? You have new guys like MVP, Kofi, Morrison, Swagger...who all have put on a bunch of great matches and have been at least built up to be credible title holders in some capacity, and they can all cut better promos than Sheamus and all have more personality and character. Yet Sheamus gets it? Its like if they gave the belt to Snitsky two months after he debuted. I kind of agree with this and I like Sheamus. That being said, he has the size (other than the uber pale whiteness) that the others listed don't have, and we all know WWE is a size whore.
