i dont think you can compare Brock's first title run and Shaemus.
Brock destroyed people for months on Raw and Smackdown. Shaemus beat Golddust on ECW and dominated a few jobbers for about a month and a half it seemed like.
Brock vs Rock was built up for SummerSlam like a classic encounter with awesome vignettes about each wrestler. There was major hype behind this match.
Shaemus won the battle royal and faced Cena two weeks later with minor build up.
Just my opinion
But back to the reason i wanted to post, i read on Rajah.com that Shaemus was actually caught blowing Triple H while he was doing squat thrust in the gym. Was wondering if it was true

It really sounds like people kind of want it to be that Sheamus has shamelessly sucked up to Triple H, and Trips has abused any power he supposedly has to get him pushed as if he was Jedi mind-tricked into doing it. I don't know what the phenomenon of things like this are: Are people so involved in wrestling that they need a justification for themselves? Have they taken to the idea that Triple H being friends with someone is an unholy alliance?
I don't know what made WWE put Sheamus in such a position... then again, wrestling is sometimes, if not often about throwing something to the wall just to see if it'll stick... and let's be honest: Brock Lesnar was Dullsville during his initial push to the title. Khali is a former world champ, too. Lastly, Randy Orton has been pushed strongly for about seven confusing years, and he's Randy Orton. WWE just does odd things sometimes, and with three splits of brands there's plenty of other stuff that's going on. In the attitude era it was the same show for every show, and the top guys were perennially at the top. Hardcore fans just haven't adapted to the idea that now the title is treated more legitimately in a sense, and upsets are bound to happen way more than they did. 9 years ago, The Rock certainly was not going to drop the title to Rikishi. Recently, Cena dropped the title to Sheamus.
So... really? Sheamus tricked a huge promotion into getting one of two of the biggest titles in America?

If he has that much pull - why hasn't he got the belt himself? William Regal was one of the groomsmen at Triple H's wedding - if triple H has that pull, why hasn't Regal had a run with the title? Michaels is Triple H's best mate (and taught Triple H everything he knew about politics) - why hasn't he had the title in seven years? Well firstly, Regal has the drug history that likely affects how reliable they feel he could be in that position. It could alos be the case that Regal doesn't want the pressure of holding a top belt and carrying a brand on his shoulders. Just because we have one example doesn't prove the point. Unlike Jeff Hardy of course who was champion this time last year... And the difference between Shawn's schedule and the Undertaker's is...?

I like Sheamus, honestly I do. However, beating the top face in the company? I don't think so. I think it's terrible booking on WWE's part. I know it's fresh, it's new, but honestly, this is going to turn into another Edge vs. Cena thing. Sheamus is going to do nothing of note and hold the title for a number of months and keep the title through a series of DQs and count-outs and stuff. In the end, it make Cena look good and ruins Sheamus.
