Tonight on RAW, the segment with Vince McMhaon and Shawn Michaels featured tons of swerves, highly entertaining twists, tension between the two, and hints at where the possible involvement of Bret Hart and The Undertaker may lead. Lots of story possibilities exist between Bret, Vince, Shawn, and The Undertaker. For instance:
-Will HBK/'Taker part 2 happen? -Will the Vince/Undertaker problems continue? -How will Shawn react to Brets return? -What will happen between Bret Hart and Vince?
Now, here's the thing:
Vince McMhaon has been in the WWE since the beginning. Bret Hart hasn't been in the WWE in 12 years. Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker are veterans from the early 90's.
The most entertaining part of RAW last night that got the most attention and crowd reactions, and is the focal point of next weeks show, involved people that have BEEN there. Its good that the WWE has built some big intrigue that has a lot of people talking but honestly? Its sad that it takes people who have already been there for quite some time. Its sad that no one that the WWE has built up or "created" in the last 5 years will ever be that over or have that kind of intrigue surrounding them.
Its sad that the WWE pretty much HAS to rely on the past to promote their current show.

I'd say the ending to the RAW with Sheamus screaming "YESSS" like a madman and shouting that he owns the show as he holds his title high in the air is a slap in the face to the OP's argument.
And even if it's not, still beats what the competition's trying to do (i.e. hire a bygone vet from a DIFFERENT BRAND and promote him as the most important part of the entire show over all the other talent).

The funny part is Bret/Shawn/Undertaker(although he crossed into other eras) were the top guys in the mid 90s when the company was at it's lowest point. I think the WWE is just in limbo right now much like it was then, waiting for the next big star. Atleast now they have a good supporting cast and other main event talent that is very over with Cena, Orton, Batista, and Jericho.

It's a testament to the charisma and skill of the four men involved that they are still intriguing after all these years

Do you even watch TNA?

It is pretty sad. I was just talking to a friend of mine last night about the same thing. It is funny that those 3 guys (Bret, Shawn and Undertaker) are drawing the most intrigue currently in wrestling than any of the newer "WWE bred" guys. I told my friend that when the only thing about Raw that interest me in the slightest bit is what Bret Hart will do or say......it just shows how weak the current product is, and how poor of a job they have done making top stars in the last few years.
Coincidentally, when I was a kid growing up in the 90's, I always considered them the top 3 best wrestlers in WWF. It's fitting that now almost 2 decades later I still can be entertained by them. I've often said when Taker and Shawn hang it up, it'll be an end of an era, and I'll probably quit watching.

It shows by comparison how weak the last few years have actually been, and hell, for the most part I've actually LIKED the last few years.
