It's all dependent on several factors, such as the character, the severity of the injury, and whether or not that injury impacts the person a lot.
I mean, the most recent example of someone who showed up while still injured was Khali (who had a knee injury) when Ozzy Osbourne was the guest host on RAW, but other than that, they're few and far between.

Yeah that really doesn't count. Khali was gone for a while before that appearnce. Now he was just about held at this point because he returned a couple weeks later in ring action.

It depends on severity of injury and who the superstar is. Edge's injury makes him unable to walk, so there's no reason for him to be on the show. HBK's injury from 2007 was more to sell Orton's vicious gimmick. So were the injuries Henry gave Batista, Rey, and Benoit in 2006. HBK's was because he badly needed knee surgery, and the Orton punt was the only logical way to get him off tv. Rey needed surgery, and ironically enough, Henry legitimately injured Batista at a house show a week after "injuring" him with the cage door on SD!. That was a case of inadvertenly covering their asses on something they couldn't record.

Travelling on too many long flights can actually slow recovery times, in particular knee and ankle bone breaks/fractures.

Sometimes it is good to have a character off TV, so he becomes fresh again for the audience- It also could give another wrestler a chance to shine.

It's also worth considering that when injuries occur, guys who may not of been pushed before get a chance to get tried out. Agree with this. keeping injured main eventers on tv restricts time spent on pushing other wrestlers. Isn't the fact that the main event scene is always the same today one of the most common complaints here?
