First off, this is not asking the prestige of the ECW Championship, because I already know that it is low. What I am asking is if anybody thinks it is still a great honor or compliment to be ECW Champion. To me it seems like it is because my take is that WWE gives the younger wrestlers the title to gauge how over they will be as a main eventer ie CM Punk and Bobby Lashley. Older wrestlers seem to have the title to work with the younger wrestler ie Christian working with Zeke, Kozolov, Zack Ryder, and Yoshi Tatsu, or Matt Hardy working with Evan Bourne or Jack Swagger. Just curious about anybody else's thoughts on this or thoughts of the value of ECW as a whole because I think that ECW has become valuable to WWE.

You at least get to say you've been a former ECW Champion, which is better than nothing. It's like winning a Golden Globe. Better than a People's Choice, but not quite an Emmy or Oscar.

I think it's more like having a I.C. or U.S. championship, since the ECW belt has been held mostly by mid-carders lately.

What honor?
The ECW championship is a midcard title.

Kayfabe-wise the ECW title means the most, because it's not like RAW or SD, there's only one title on this one show, you're the main aspect of the show if you hold it. This adds extra pressure, probably why they don't wanna take the strap off Christian.
It's not like RAW where you can give a rookie like Sheamus the strap cause the Tag Titles are held by DX or SD where you could give Punk the gold cause they wanna see Rey vs Jericho in the IC Match series.
There's no other reason to watch ECW than for the champion, thus it is an honor, even more so than holding a world title.

I think there's greater honour in it compared to the IC/US titles in that it is the only title on that show to fight for.

Well unlike the IC or US titles, it seems like people actually persue the ECW belt. Usually people are put into matches because the just happen to be feuding with the guy who holds it. People wrestle for the ECW title because they want the ECW title.
