after another evening of Matt foregoing commentary for referencing (relatively) obscure bands and other media i thought it would be interesting to make a thread listing them. I don't know if it will be interesting, but I'll start:
* Calling Batista 'The Altered Beast', presumably a reference to the track of the same name by ISIS, which features a member of previously referenced band TooL. or maybe it was a steroid comment?

I'd say it was more likely he was referencing the Sega video game 'Altered Beast'.

Whenever Regal wrestles, expect references to The Smiths and Morrissey.

Whenever Regal wrestles, expect references to The Smiths and Morrissey. I marked hard at survivor series when he said 'November spawned a monster' and then topped that by describing Regal as being from the 'Seaside town that they forgot to burn down' But has he made any other Smiths/Morrissey references aside from those?

Striker told Grisham, "Yule Shoot Your Eye Out" as they spoke of Christmas gifts, and that's the title of a Fall Out Boy song. I was surprised by that one.

During the Morrison "William Wallace" segment, when Drew and John started to brawl, Striker said "Well Groundskeeper Willie impersonations aside"
The man has won me over with Simpsons references.

He called the Great Khali prior to his match against Chris Jericho two weeks ago "the Bollywood Brahma", or something like that.
I also enjoyed his Christmas sweater from last night's program, as well.

I hope I meet Striker at Fan Axxess next year so I can shake his hand and congratulate him on bringing together two of my favourite things, wrestling and Morrissey.

It was either when Regal was tagged in at Survivor Series, or when he was facing Christian at Breaking Point, Striker said ''Every day is like Sunday for that man, William Regal.''

I'm pretty sure Striker said "Heaven Knows Regal's Miserable Now" one time, can't remember when.

Called Yoshi Tatsu "Piston Honda", a character in Punch Out! I think he was referring to Batista, but I do remember him calling an attack a "Vulgar Display of Power", a Pantera album.

Yeah, Altered Beast was a reference to the Sega Genesis/Arcade game and "You'll shoot you're eye out" was an obvious Christmas Story reference.
