It seems like all male wrestlers have a full name, yet lots of divas only go by their first name:
Maria Layla Jillian Savannah Maryse Natalya Melina Eve Kelly (What the announcers usually refer her as) Tiffany
Compare that to:
Mickie James Beth Phoenix Michelle McCool Alicia Fox Gail Kim Rosa Mendes Katie Lea (is Lea a last name or a middle name?)
And the Bellas which can go either way
And you have over half of the Divas roster that just goes by one name. Compare that to Divas of the past:
Sable Sunny Chyna Lita Ivory Jacqueline Terri Debra Victoria Ashley (has a last name but was only referred to by her first) Dawn Marie (Assuming Marie is a middle name)
vs.
Trish Stratus Torrie Wilson Stacy Kiebler Nicole Bass (does she count?) Christy Hemme Molly Holly
And it just seems like the 'E has a thing for leaving these women without any sort of alias other than their first name, which in kayfabe could even be just some sort of stage name. At least to me it sounds more like a stripper than an athlete.
Maybe it's just because it's 5 AM here, so excuse me for all this, but it's just something I've always been wondering as to why they never just give male wrestlers just one name as often as they do the Divas these days.

It looks about 40/60. But look, nobody really cares about the divas to a respectable degree, which is fine, plus male wrestlers can have aliases that are just one name. You can't call a girl something like Undertaker, Kane or The Rock.

To be fair, Natalya's last name isn't exactly a secret. They bring up that she is a Neidhart.

How do you know they're not only referring to Kelly Kelly by her last name?
Also Katie Lea Burchill. They say that a lot.
Eve, Jillian, Layla, Natalya all get called by their full names sometimes. Some more often than others.

The only one that really bothered me is Tiffany. It's such a common name IMO that it warrants a last name. It's like having a male named John or Michael and just leaving it like that. But yeah, I hate when the announcer introduces "Jillian Hall" or "Eve Torres" but the name graphic normally just says "Jillian" or "Eve." I don't know why that bothers me.
And I always wanted Tori to have a last name, since Torrie Wilson was running around in WCW and to a degree was more popular. But at least they were on different products. The Jaqueline Moore/Jackie Gayda thing was real confusing in conversation for a minute there.
And don't get me started about Sheamus! I don't care if it's O'Shaunessey or not. Give the man a damn last name!

Nothing is more stupid than "SHEAMUS", though.

Nothing is more stupid than "SHEAMUS", though. It doesn't quite dethrone Diesel as "Stupidest name of all the times".

I think it's because the trashy celebrity magazines and tabloids refer to the big stars only by their first name.

"Tiffany" bothers me, but for a different reason: she's holding a position of authority. If we're supposed to take her seriously as ECW GM, can she at least have a full name and not just be known as ECW General Manager Tiffany? I mean, you don't see female executives of companies just called by their title and first name. How stupid does Vice President of Marketing Danielle or Senior Chairman Patricia sound? It sounds like an incomplete thought, like you're waiting to hear a last name that's never going to come.

I think it's because the trashy celebrity magazines and tabloids refer to the big stars only by their first name. I say it's about the same ratio. Look at those teen picture book/mags for cryin' out loud. Certain stars don't need a last name for you to know who they are: Miley (Cyrus), Zac (Efron), in some cases Amanda (Bynes), etc. The name "sings" on it's own. (Zac only because of the odd spelling. I guess his parents couldn't buy the "K".) But others need a last name so you can tell the difference between this certain celeb and others who share it. Ashley Tisdale (isn't every other girl named Ashley these days?), Selena Gomez (not to be confused with the singular-named Tejano pop star), the Jonas Brothers (I don't know them all and not going to ask my 10 year old), even Miranda Cosgrove has a full name. (If Nickelodeon hasn't pushed her relentlessly, I wouldn't know who she is either.) It works a lot better if you have an uncommon name. Kim Kardashian, not so much. No explanation why "Tiffany" only goes by one name. Doesn't make any sense to me. (And who is "Savannah" in the wrestling world? You lost me there.)

Angela Fong. The new ECW announcer, who was a backstage interviewer for about two months.
Think Lena Yada, version 2.
Who in herself was Gail Kim, Version 2.
Okay, I'll stop the lumping all the Asian women wrestlers in one boat now.

No explanation why "Tiffany" only goes by one name. Doesn't make any sense to me. Because her last name is Hitler. Her name is Tiffany Hitler.

Sheamus is just Irish for James. So it's essentially just like having a "John" or "Michael".
I liked Sheamus O'Shaunessey as a name. Even his real surname of Farrely would be better than nothing.

Why? Because you don't care what the stripper or callgirl's last name is.
My very first post on this forum was a suggestion that the Divas would seem more respectable if they used their last names more often.
