I'll admit, as much as I love tag team wrestling, the generic face gets beatdown, hot tags, partner tears it up spot bores me to death now, since it happens every match. So this friday, I won't lie, I laughed pretty hard when Shad got the hot tag, and got immediately knocked out by Big Show. Really helped them look like a dominant team in my eyes. Plus Matt Striker's "Daaaaaaaaaaaaamn!" when Shad took the punch mafe the moment even more awesome. Agree? Disagree? Don't care?

Had this been in the original ECW, that might have been followed by "You just got knocked the F*** OUT!" ;D

I could never really get into big Show. I just couldn't take him seriously with all the goofy gimmicks. Even when he fought Lesnar I wasn't sold on the guy.
The fist of doom and pairing with Jericho has finally gotten him over with me.

I totally misread the title of this thread. I thought it read Big Show was immune to hot dogs.

I totally misread the title of this thread. I thought it read Big Show was immune to hot dogs. You're not the only one. I guess they only did it because of Big Show's recent knee injury but goddamn I marked out like hell. Plus Shad sold that punch really well.

Now, isn't the legit reason this happened because Show had knee surgery last week, and probably cannot go to well at the moment? I imagine it was minor surgery, since he was there and all, and walked without a limp, as far as I can tell.
That was a sweet moment though, I must say. I was half not watching it, because I was doing something else, so at first I didn't realize Shad had just gotten the hot tag. Then I saw the replay, and had to back the DVR up and watch it in full.

It is a minor surgery. I had the same kind of surgery two months ago. Your knee is pretty stiff for about three weeks and then it gets to 100%

To the OP: tag matches that aren't squashes and Japanese Lucha-Rules Spot Fests don't really work without that formula.
Basically, every match has the same format that is modified to fit the individuals involved and booking. Like on SD, the formula works, then the hot tag and BOOM - KO. If you weren't used to the formula, then that ending is nothing special and doesn't offer something special.
Tag matches can go back-and-forth a bit to start and then get a little crazy following the hot tag house of fire. But they only work with that internal formula to some extent. It's just like a singles match where each little glimmer of hope when the heel's beating the crap out of the face makes the actual comeback all the more special. Ring psychology implies the formula that the wrestlers fall back on and that the fans explicitly or implicitly expect.
