Is it just me or are most of the Rippers and Jesse's random friends real dorky looking? It's probably no wonder that they never made it anywhere. They don't have a good look to them at all. In fact they only took off when they had Barry Williams fronting them and most likely only because he was a celebrity. Every celeb band gets recognition no matter how horrible they are.
Then again, all they ever did were covers with Jesse anyway. Hmm....

He was always busy with other intrests (*nightclubs, radio shows) not to mention that big ass family he had. It's no wonder they struggled and eventually kicked him to the curb

They were big in Japan... For covering a Beach Boys song. I'm with the OP, gow exactly did Jesse think he was gonna get a record deal doing just covers. I'm currently watching the episode where Jesse is playing Elvis at a review called "Rock 'n' Roll Heaven" where he says he hid this night job from the family is because he feels embarassed to be doing this since he wants his "own musical identity". I also found it weird that their keyboardist was still playing the keytar way into the 90's. Even when everyone in the band was wearing the then trendy grunge-era flannel!

I just couldn't help but notice all the pudgy guys with receding hairlines that Jesse seemed to hang out with. Or guys who only looked "cool" because they were wearing dark sunglasses indoors.

But in later seasons he had Viper!!! The least cool looking bassist ever

I have a friend in a band and one night he said "I just made $100 for an hour's work" and that was only because 1/3 of his band didn't show up and his other member said "You need this money more than I do." And that was in 2009. Imagine $100 split however many ways.

I am more concerned with his last name change. that can easily be explained away by saying Jesse Cochran was his stage name. like John Cougar.

Let's not be dissing the keytar. That thing's timeless.

Anyone else ever notice that Viper is wearing the same shirt that the Hardy Boyz wore when they had Michael Hayes managing them?

They were hardly an established cover band though. And half of the time they were playing the Smash Club, owned by the leader of their band.

And half of the time they were playing the Smash Club, owned by the leader of their band. And maybe they did cheapies there to help keep the club open and charged huge at other places. A cover band with a popular radio DJ pulls pretty well, and gets paid more than they deserve.
