Wow, I'm not sure if I can do this one. Arguably their best album of the 90s up against their best (well...only) album of the 00s. This is going to take some thinking...

Yeah both albums are AMAZING, but they are exact opposites from each other. On one hand you have a KISS that nobody had ever seen before, one that was so heavy with their music you swore they were a different band. And on the other hand you have Sonic Boom, which is another album that can just take you places, hard hitting rock n' roll that returns them to the 70's.

What's funny about Revenge though, is that aside from a few songs, the material wasn't much heavier than some of the stuff off Hot In The Shade. The whole "image" they built around themselves for that album was strongly based off the opening track. Arguably the most successful single off the album ("God Gave Rock 'N' Roll To You II") sounded like typical 80s Kiss. That's not to discredit it in any way, though - it's definitely one of my favorites.

I must disagree with you on God Gave Rock N' Roll To You II, because it's not synth filled enough to be an 80's KISS ballad ;D Me personally I like Sonic Boom a lot more than Revenge, because while Revenge is amazing and Bruce and Eric are monsters on their instruments, Sonic Boom just has that loud nasty A chord goodness that is classic KISS. Plus I much prefer Paul Stanley's production of SB over Ezrin's on Revenge, SB is a much more clean and crisp sounding album (particularly in the drums, which Eric also shines on this album as well) but still has the grit of their 70's work.
