Does anyone know when The Mountie switched from his instrumental music to the singing song? I don't know the exact date, but summer of 1992, shortly after wm area.

One of my favourite Mountie memories was at Summerslam 1992 where he made his way to the ring singing along to his own entrance song. Vince on commentary asking "What kind of man sings along to his own recording?" and Heenan whistling along telling Vince how catchy it is...just brilliant.

So was IRS supposed to be Mike Rotundo who changed his name and became a civil servant?

So was IRS supposed to be Mike Rotundo who changed his name and became a civil servant? Nope, he was re-debuting in a new character, he'd been away so it wasn't a continuation.

They sort of acknowledged them as the same person. A fan brought a sign to the ring that said " Is Rotundo Stupid?" Anyway, The Mountie was a great character, wish he had a longer reign as IC champion. Maybe at some point, he could've dropped The Mountie gimmick and progress into a more serious character being tailored for the main event. Don't know if he had main event potential, but I was proven wrong before.

It would make more sense if Rotundo just joined the IRS and changed his name rather than believing some parent named their kid that.

Was watching his superstars debut yesterday (watching the shows and he happened to be on, not just for this thread, lol) and vince is all over him on commentary, he's "jacques reugoue (spelling) from the fabulous reugoue brothers! He's been training with the mounties in canada to learn their techniques and now he's using that on his own here in the wwf!" type stuff

The Rougeaus are seriously my favorite wrestling family ever. They used to play them up so big on the WWF Quebec broadcasts. It would be so funny to watch them be treated as faces in Quebec & then flip to the US broadcast for them to be treated as heels. You could really tell that Jacques has a passion for the "over the top" character aspect. Ray was one of my favorite announcers as well.

As far as "Character Continuity"- they definitely DID point out that Jean-Pierre LaFitte (in pirate gimmick) was the same guy as one of the Rougeaus. (He actually mentioned it in two promos. The first one, he compliments you on your memory. The second, he dismisses it with "Tout le monde knows!")
Oh, and when they went to WCW, Col. Parker redoing himself as a Colonel in the French Foreign Legion for their gimmick was a riot.
