I wonder why the WWF never did reveal the truth about Macho Man Randy Savage and Leaping Lanny Poffo being brothers?
I thought it was great television when Ron Garvin revaled them as being brothers in ICW. A good opportunity would have been Savage's face turn in 87. They could have had the Honkey Tonk Man have match against Leaping Lanny, and have him and the Hart Foundation beat him up, and have Honkey yell at the uncontions Lanny to send a message to the Macho Man. And than having Savage make but it's too late save.
Than a week later in an emotional interview reveals him and Lanny were brothers. JCP did an awesome job with the kayfabe brother Ron and Jim Garvin. The WWF could have done something similar, though I dobut it would equal the same heat even though they are real brothers because the audiance wouldn't care that much about Lanny as they would say someone like Hogan.

It may have been to do with Savage being mega over as a heel and Poffo was a frisbee chucking dork.

And then, when Savage was a face, Poffo was a scroll-carrying laureate.
Or was that later?
I do know Macho was the Macho King while The Genius was around, but who turned heel first?
Either way, the Macho King + Queen Sherri + The Genius. You might as well have called that trio The Towering Inferno for all the heat they would have gotten.

Actually I believe The Genius crowned Macho during the coronation ceremony on WWF tv.

The idea of a heel Leaping Lanny is scandalous to me. And hilarious. Mostly just hilarious.

Savage had all ready returned to being a heel and became the macho King when the Genius debuted. there was never an angle or anything about changing from leaping Lanny to the Genius. just one day out of the blue the Genius was introduced and of r the first time ever Poffo was given some kind of push but still jobbed a lot.
The King coronation is seen in the Mach man anthology DVD. I was always frustrated they never admitted they were brothers. Jobber Barry O. was Cowboy Bob Orton's brother but that was never revealed either. Yes he's Randy's Uncle for all you tots out there!
Of course you all remember the Rougeau brothers who were a top tag team there. Later Raymond Rougeau would become an announcer and Jacques Rougeau became part of the tag team the Mounties(or Quebecers) One night on Raw Raymond interviewed the Mounties but the topic of them being brothers wasn't revealed.

The Genius was a great gimmick, and Lanny was a really good wrestler, I wish they would have done more with him.

To be perfectly honest, I think they did not reveal them to be brothers because they had two different last names.. Savage and Poffo. Back in the 80's, kayfabe was pretty strong. If they were brothers, they would have had the same last name.
Whereas nowadays wrestling companies aren't shy about admitting on screen that wrestlers use stage names, back then things were a lot different.

Not Really. As mentioned earlier it was revealed they were brothers when they were in ICW and that meant Savage's last name was really Poffo. They wrestled together in Memphis as a a tag team with their dad Angelo managing them yet it was still the brothers Savage & Poffo. No one thought Andre The Giant's last name was "The Giant".

I thought I remembered reading the Lanny was at Randy and Liz's wedding, although Ive never seen Summerslam 92, or when I did it was on video around that time and dont remember, is that complete bull? Or was it refferening to their actual real wedding, that would make more sense actually, you'd imagine he'd be at that.

Well, Brian Christopher and Jerry Lawler are not related in Kayfaybe. It happens.
Although, the best nod was Rikishi and the Rock. Their kinship was never mentioned at first, but it was clear that Rock treated Rikishi differently that he did other wrestlers.

That wasn't a real wedding at Summer Slam. They had all ready been married for many years. C'mon he got jumped by Jake Roberts in that. I heard a rmor the wedding angle was to help spice up what was a troubled marriage atthe time and well we know how that wound up!

I meant was it reffering to their real wedding years before instead of the kayfabe one.
