hmmm....Is this going to suck? I'm not sure I can sign on. Anything with Jonas Brothers and Justin Beiber just cannot be that good. Am I being to cynical about the whole thing. I mean they are all here to help and there are some heavyweights like Tony Bennet and Celine Dion but Little Wayne doing Dylan's part, just has to suck. Why not write another song? Help me, I want to believe it will be good.

Provided they get Springsteen to do his original parts again, I'm game.

Why not write another song? It's Hollywood. Originality is an obscurity.

Could be even worse than the first one.

I'm going to have to listen to it once because Brian Wilson and Al Jardine of the Beach Boys are in it

I sure hope they fix the lyrics this time.
If they don't it's doubly sad.

No one from the first recording is back to sing in the second one.
The disappointment for me is there was a rumor going around that MJ had re-recorded his vocals for We Are The World for This Is It and I was hoping those could be used for We Are the World 2010.
However, it looks like his kids will be involved somehow, so that's something.

Remember nine years ago, when Jermaine Dupri and Bono got together to completely bastardize Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On?"
I wouldn't expect you to. Here it is to refresh your memory:
Well, I expect the new "We Are the World" to be just as bad, if not worse. And the original version wasn't even that good to begin with.

Sadly, I do remember it because of Fred Durst's awful rap break. One of the worst "all star" songs ever.

Some people think they're doing something to help the cause, but what it ends up doing, is distracting people away from the main purpose of helping the cause, and puts the focus on the celebrities.
Take a look at a news channel, when this and the UK song gets released. Watch how the news focuses on these songs, while Haiti itself, gets pushed into the background.
It goes like this, the more publicity it gets, the more that is focused on it. This goes for music, films, games, and yes...even the news.

Here it is....just as bad as I thought it was gonna be. Long gone are the images of Bruce, Huey, Steve Perry, Cyndi and the rest of them singing thier hearts out and we now get T-Pain on autotune, Lil' Wayne, the Jonas Brothers, Kanye and Wyclef screaming...awful.

Vince Vaughn is the Dan Aykroyd of this version. I guess NBC Universal has the exclusive rights to this, they played it on NBC, Sy Fy and I bet other channels at the same time.

Not going to listen to it. In a time where they're rebooting classic movie after classic movie, all this is would be a reboot of a song that meant something at the time. YES the proceeds are going to help Haiti BUT how about writing a new song? How many songwriters you got on tap? No ideas for a new song? None?
Pass.

How in gods name can you not come up with something new here? And I had forgotten all about 'What's going on' 2001. Now, I wont be able to sleep tonight....

Eh it was okay, it would have been better without the autotune parts though which are going to sound even more stupid 20 years from now. I think it would have been better had they just wrote a new song. I think that what made the first one so revolutionary was that it was an original song, taking that song and putting in new people doesn't make it seem as important. Plus Bieber with the opening verse, really?
