My laptop just started having some issues, just wondering if anybody had an idea of what's wrong.
Basically, the screen is just going black, like it's shorting out or something. When it does, I hold the button under the monitor down and it comes back up and a few seconds later it goes black again.
I've restarted several times thinking something that simple would take care of it with no luck.
It's about 5 years old now and on it's 2nd hardrive and 3rd battery, so it's no new computer. I'm guessing it's an age issue, but I thought I would check to see if anybody knew of anything I could do to it that might help.

Definitely sounds like your laptop is about to kick the bucket. If you really want to save it, you could take it to a local repair shop and see what they can do for you. But a 5 year old laptop that's already been through 2 hard drives and 3 batteries? I'd say it's upgrade time.

Laptops are obsolete after two years, and really start to slow down after four. Five years is pushing it, even for a desktop, and any repair costs would be worth putting into a new machine.
