was a JOKE! He sounded robotic, barely any emotion. EPSN is all over his junk, same with Golf Channel (of course). Even Skip Bayless who you could tell didn't like it force his way to say something good about it. Again what a JOKE!

Just read a brief synopsis on it. Nothing new, what was the point of this?
Also what was with him denying using performance enhancing drugs? Don't remember anybody ever accusing him of using them.

Had to figure it would be. I just hopes this will finally shut up the people like Jay Mariotti who was DEMANDING Tiger speak to the media and answer all of their questions as if he owes them an explanation. He didn't cheat on the game (which apparently he touched on today .. for some reason), he cheated in his personal life. Might make him a scumbag, but it's no one's business. I get curiosity, but these jokes like Jay demanding Tiger owes them an explanation as if he's Tiger's father in law needs to get a grip.

I honestly don't care one iota about this. However, I'm super pissed at ESPN for covering this only for the last hour or so. Not only ESPN, but ESPNews as well. I just want to see what happened in sports last night, but I'm not getting a chance to. I wouldn't mind as much if only one of the two was covering it, but no, it has to be both. This is going to end up being a "forgive and forget" thing anyway, similar to Kobe Bryant a few years back.

The cloud of PED's around Tiger date back to when he was starting out and was just more muscular than any other golfer. It was brought up earlier this year at PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem's state of the game address and he basically shouted the guy down after Dr. Tony Galea, who had treated Tiger said he game him PEDs to combat his knee surgery.
as far as today's address, and let's get it straight here, it was an address, I have yet to see it so I can't comment on it but I am disappointed that Tiger didn't allow questions to be asked. Does he think that these questions will never be asked of him at any tour stop he ever goes to again. I think the issue here, and the reason the Golf Writers Association of America wasn't there was because of that fact and that's what riled up the press so much. They felt Tiger was denying them a first amendment right by not allowing them to ask these questions.
Who I really be bad for, besides the family because that's obvious, are the tour players who will be in the event where Tiger makes his return. The coverage around Tiger is normally at circus level. With that being event #1 of his season (and probably at Augusta I may add) the amount of coverage will drive the players insane if they aren't already. Hell, Ernie Els hit out at Tiger for holding this address during a World golf Championship, can you imagine the backlash when he does this during a major?

I figured it'd be nothing but a joke and that ESPN would be gargling at the mouth over it. Not a shock to me.

The bottom line is Tiger Woods did owe us an explanation, because he has been selling a Tiger Woods brand, and still wants to.
If Tiger just wanted to be a golfer I could care less if he had an entire harim that came to his every beckon call. He's not. He has positioned himself as this cultural phenomenon icon. He's the one who made himself a BILLIONAIRE off endorsing products he wants US to buy. He wants to continue to sell us things, and rebuild the Tiger Woods brand name. That's why he did this today, and that's why he did in fact owe the people some explanation.
I haven't seen it yet, but I'm guessing just based on the reaction of most people, it was a disaster.

It's a known thing that he always is kind of robotic. It's a running joke on the Jim Rome show that they always bust on Tiger for sounding robotic. I don't really care, and the coverage is just nuts, especially for ESPN. Every time I turned on Sportscenter today, it was just all about Tiger. They made the The Herd radio just about Tiger.

That...was his real voice?
Just curious. I mean, I've never heard the guy speak.

I still don't get why this is such a big deal. ESPN is acting like he's the first pro athlete to ever cheat on his wife. what the hell does that have to do with him being a good golfer?
just goes hand in hand with my belief that the only thing the media loves more than a rising star is their sense of entitlement to pull that person down.

I love how Tiger like so many other celebrities gets painted as a victim of the media but he had no problem cashing in as big as possible on his celebrity before. It's not like he is Charles Barkley and just straight up said I am not a role model. No, he was their to accept all the adoration and most respectable man and man or athlete of the year/decade awards before, now that he has made those people question that, they have no right to question him?

Actually I'm with Mariotti on this one (Which trust me considering I can't stand him is rare). That thing today did nothing for Tiger. The only way he gets the bottom feeders like TMZ off his back is if he's open and is up front on the matter. I'm not saying he has to go into intimate details but until he answers actual questions about it people will keep talking about what he did and with how many.
