You COULD be right. Anybody can be better on the mic, given some time (watch Raw; Shelton and Nitro aren't nearly as bad as they used to be). On the thing about the black champ, it could work. I want to see a champ who doesn't act stereotypically black, but instead, just happens to be black. Definitely agree. The whole, "I'm black, blah blah blah," or "THAT'S RACIST!" or "We're Gangsta" angles are funny, but they don't really help to put a guy over. King Booker IS funny and IS over, becuase of how he does it, but most guys aren't as good with the mic as him, either. having a guy who acts specifically black, would be like having a white guy act like a white yuppy or prep as his gimmick.

I still say he's the next big thing. Give him a couple more years to perfect his craft, and he could go all the way and lead WWE. In my opinion, without bringing the race card up, I think WWE would be great with an African American champion at the top of the food chain. And not some dumb jungle savage stereotype, but a good solid role model. He looks the part, he's a decent wrestler (no worse than Hogan or Cena) and if he can perfect his promo skills, Lashley will be the eclipse Batista. You COULD be right. Booker makes it work because he is a black guy from Houston who is trying to act like white British nobility. It's just ridiculous to see this 40+ yr old guy talking in a ludicrous accent and calling people "scallywags", etc. Even the way he says "Keeeng Buck-ah!!" makes me laugh. One of funniest things he did was his recent run-in with Cryme Tyme when they stole his wallet. Book was acting high and mighty, saying that "their type" all looked the same to him, pretending he didn't speak "ebonics". Then when he realized his wallet was gone, the REAL Book slipped out, threatening to beat their "black asses", etc. It was great.
But while all those race jokes go on, including Shelton Benjamin with the constant black references, it's good that Lashley has been able to avoid all of that, and is building a reputation as a solid, legitimate athlete. I love the no-nonsense approach. I'd like to see some instances were we get to see him pissed and aggressive...right now he seems too gentle. I wanna see him snap and show some fire.

EDIT: Not as much now as he used to, as part of the gimmick, but he has those "black moments' about every show where he starts acting like he used to.

King Booker has gone away from that thug talk and has embraced a transformation into a great King of the Ring.

Batista is an immature douche-bag, and I can't believe that a guy in his 40s would act like he does in public and behind the scenes.

I went to the Smackdown in Portland this past year, right after Booker T became King Booker. When Lashley came out, the video just read "hard hitting" over and over, never "soft spoken." I think they added that later.

A slogan like that would get some people to believe that Bobby Lashley is a mute pimp who takes Cialis every day.

Probably because he has no other distinctive traits.
He's got lots of muscles.
And that's really it.
Granted, "soft spoken" isn't going to do him any favours.
It's like marketing Goldberg by saying "He's An Unstoppable Force.....Who Loves His Gran!!!!"
