Just what you need to pop in the DVD when your bored and just need to unwind.
And a question; if the movie was remade today, what stars should be in it?
Keep in mind, the films were filled with stars of yesteryear and instantly familiar faces.

My wife and I got married at the hotel the original Cannonball Run ended at. When we (and all the guests) walked from the service to the reception, we passed right by the place where Captain Chaos saved that lady's dog.

Anyone know why the "third" movie was titled "Speedzone?" Was there a copyright issue? If they didn't refer to the race as the Cannonball Run in that film, I would never have known it was a sequel.

I own the first one, and I pop it in from time to time when I need a pick me up. Same with Hooper.
Edit: If they remade it today, I'd wager that there would be cameo appearances by Jackie Chan and Burt Reynolds. Hell, Chan would probably reprise his role from the first one.
Off topic a bit, since I'm an old guy, I remember when stars would go on daytime talk shows and actually promote movies and stuff that they were doing. Not like the daytime talk shows of today. Anyway, Jackie Chan was on one to promote Cannonball Run and Melissa Gilbert was on there as well. She made a comment about how she told all her friends that she was going to be on a talk show with Jackie Chan (I think it was The Dinah Shore show), and he immediately quipped back with "Who's Jackie Chan?", as if her friends wouldn't have any idea who he was. That led to a lot of laughter and he was doing that smirk of his. Great to have a sense of humor about such things. since he wasn't a big star back then.

Even "funnier" was the fact that parts of it were filmed in Quebec and our roads aren't exactly known for being the best looking - they're loaded with cracks and potholes, etc. In this movie the race begins in Washington DC (if I remember correctly) and you see them racing past a hotel with French signs and crummy looking roads then the next clip they're driving past the White House on nice good-looking roads...and then driving on a cracked road again with more French signs...etc. I knew a guy who played in the film - the cameraman in the news van. His brother used to own a comic book store I went to.
