I just got back from seeing this, and it's a really good movie. It's got everything from suspense to a bit of humor. The camera shots were amazing. If anyone gets a chance, I highly recommend this movie.

I have been wondering if it is a remake of the George Romero movie.

I have been wondering if it is a remake of the George Romero movie. I'm more surprised it wasn't remade already by now. And for the record, I don't consider the original (or the remake, unless I'm wrong. I haven't seen it) to be a "Zombie" movie. It's a Plague picture, like 28 Days Later. Which absolutely ripped Crazies off this side of a Tarantino "homage."

I saw it last night, it was pretty cool. Though a lot of moments of "What the hell? WHY would they do that?" but all in all, pretty good action.

So I'm happy they didnt go the Zombie route, and instead it was, like you said, a plague type of thing

It was good, Romero was the producer for it. So thats something most remakes dont have going for it. The original director as a producer.

Heh, Romero remakes are either awesome (Dawn of the Dead, The Crazies) or atrocious (Day of the Dead). There is no middle ground.

This is a remake?
Haven't seen it, not really my genre, but let me just say that I cannot take any movie that calls itself The Crazies seriously. It sounds like a stoner comedy about rabies.

The female lead sucked at acting.
And her character HAD to have had a misscarriage after all of that stuff that happend to her.

I saw this movie this afternoon. First off, I have to say that I usually like my zombie/contagion films. But this film, it just seemed lacking for me. Maybe I'm finally outgrowing my zeal for zombie films? I just sat there unfazed while people around me were jumping, and I seemed to know exactly when those parts were gonna be.
So don't take my apathetic view of it if you really like the genre. I suppose it did some things well, but I just wasn't into it. Enough others seemed to enjoy it so if you want to, go and have a time of it. Make a day ...

I've been wanting to see it as I've thought for a long time that the original was one of those where a remake could actually be worth doing.
Last House on The Left was another one of those. That movie was a great idea with a bad execution, and the remake was warranted...

I'm hesitant on seeing it. I've never seen the original but I have seen both Dawn Of The Deads and I thought the remake of that was a bit better than the original.(I liked that it had more characters and more character development than the original dawn of the dead even if it was a bit more campier.)
